Gadarmala, also known as Bhopalgarh, is a taluk in Bhilwara district, Rajasthan, which is situated approximately 20 km away from Bhilwara. It is a small village with a population of about 5,000 people.

History

The village is named after King Bhopal Singh, an adopted son of King Kesar Singh. The monument dedicated to the king has been purchased by a villager and is not accessible to tourists.[ citation needed ]

Gadarmala is a thikana (titled estate or jagir) held by the descendants of Puranmal, the eleventh son of Maharana Pratap Singh I (1572–1597), with the title of Baba. The ancestral seat, Mangrop (Magrop), bestowed upon Puranmal, has been the root of their lineage. [2] Progressing two generations down the family line, Puranmal's grandson, Mohkam Singh, was granted the village of Gurla as a jagir by his father, Nath Singh of Mangrop. It was during this time that Mohkam Singh, in turn, allocated the jagir of Gadarmala to his son, Amar Singh, an offshoot with its roots tracing back to Gurla.[ citation needed ]

Gadarmala has a gram panchayat consisting of small villages such as Chawanderi, Dholikhera, Nogawa.[ citation needed ]

The village have historically rich history contemporary with Maharana Pratap. It is known for Koshithal Fort and for public cemetery where many War Martyr cremated. It is belief that Koshithal has large number of War Martyr Cremated in Local Cemetery after Chittaurgarh in Rajasthan.

Raja Puranmal was a sixteenth-century ruler of Amber.He succeeded his father Raja Prithviraj to the throne of Kachwahas of Kingdom of Amber in 1527.

Delwara, nestled in the Aravalli Range hills, is a small town about 28 kms away from Udaipur, Mewar, and close to Eklingji Temple, on the way to the temple town of Nathdwara, in the state of Rajasthan, India. Delwara was originally known as ‘Devkul Patan Nagri’, which means the town of god. It boasted over 1500 temples at one time, out of which there were over 400 Jain temples. Delwara was the center of learning and culture before the 15th century AD. Around the middle of the 13th century, Raja Sagar, a Deora Chauhan and a descendant of Rao Kirtipal of Jalore, was a very brave king of Delwara (Mewar). Descendants of Raja Sagar sacrificed their lives whilst fighting alongside Ranas of Mewar against Muslim invaders. Raja Sagar was the progenitor of Bachhawat and Bothra clan of Oswals. Sagar's son, Kunwar Bohitya was immensely influenced and inspired by Jain philosophy. Samdhar, a grandson of Bohitya and a Deora Chauhan, was the first man in his genealogy to convert to Jainism.

Priyamvada Singh is a media professional and a heritage restorer based in India. After working in the television industry in Mumbai for a decade, she returned to her ancestral home in Rajasthan, and used the skills of the local community to restore an ancestral fort in her village Meja near Bhilwara. Her use of local skills for the restoration and social upliftment efforts towards the local community won her the Nari Shakti Puraskar from the Indian Government.
