Game On is the debut EP by Canadian country music ensemble James Barker Band, released on April 21, 2017. [1] All four of the singles released from the record have reached the top 10 at Canadian country radio, including one number one hit with "Chills". Upon its release, Game On debuted at number 29 on the Canadian Albums Chart. [2]

Singles

The group's debut single, "Lawn Chair Lazy", was released May 6, 2016. [3] [4] By peaking at number three on the Canada Country chart, the song became the highest-charting debut single by a Canadian country artist. [5]

"Just Sayin'" was released in October 2016 as the second single off what would become Game On. [6] It also reached the top 10. [7]

"Chills" was released as the third single on March 3, 2017. [8] The song became the group's first to chart on the Canadian Hot 100, reaching a peak of 91. [9] It reached number one on the Canadian country chart, making the James Barker Band the first Canadian act to produce a number one radio single from a debut album. [10] [11] "Chills" was later released to American country radio on October 23, 2017, as their debut radio single in that country. [12]

The EP's fourth single, "It's Working", was released in August 2017. [13] It earned the group their fourth consecutive top 10 single. [14]

Critical reception

Annie Reuter of Sounds Like Nashville wrote that the EP "showcases both their fun and sentimental sides," and that songs like "Chills" help "solidify the band's staying power." [15]

River Town Saints is a Canadian country music group from Arnprior, Ontario, composed of Chris McComb, Jeremy Bortot, Jordan Potvin, Chase Kasner, and Joey Patrois. Labelle, McComb and Bortot formed the trio Labelle in 2014, later adding Potvin and Daniel DiGiacomo and changing their name to River Town Saints. On February 21, 2019, DiGiacomo died unexpectedly at the age of 31. Afterwards, the band added Chase Kasner. Patrois initially filled in on bass before joining the band officially a short while later. The group began playing shows around their hometown in 2014. They signed to Open Road Recordings in July 2015 and released their debut single, "A Little Bit Goes a Long Way", in November of that same year. The song debuted on the Billboard Canada Country chart in January 2016, eventually peaking at #31. A music video, filmed in Ottawa, premiered on CMT the following month.
