Gary W. Laidig (born August 15,1948) is a Minnesota politician and a former member of the Minnesota Senate and the Minnesota House of Representatives. A Republican,he was first elected to the House in 1972,and represented the old District 51A for five terms. In 1982 he ran successfully for the Senate,and represented the old District 55 and,after the 1992 legislative redistricting,the old District 56 until 2001. While in office,he resided in Bayport and Stillwater. The various configurations of his district included portions of Washington County in the eastern Twin Cities metropolitan area. [1] He was not endorsed for re-election in 2000,and was succeeded by Michele Bachmann. [2]
While in the House,Laidig served on the Agriculture,Appropriations,Criminal Justice,Education,General Legislation and Veterans Affairs,Health and Welfare,Local and Urban Affairs,Reapportionment and Elections,and Rules and Legislative Administration committees,and of various subcommittees relevant to each. He was chair of the Criminal Justice Subcommittee for Law Enforcement and Corrections during the 1979-1980 biennium. [3]
While in the Senate,Laidig served on the Agriculture,Crime Prevention,Economic Development and Commerce,Ethics and Campaign Reform,Environment and Natural Resources,Judiciary,Metropolitan Affairs,Rules and Administration,Taxes and Tax Laws,Transportation,and Veterans and Military Affairs committees,and of various subcommittees relevant to each. His special legislative concerns while in office included taxes,the environment,economic development,and small business. [4]
Laidig graduated from Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka in 1966. He served in the United States Marine Corps,and was deployed in South Vietnam from 1968 to 1970 during the Vietnam War.[ citation needed ] He attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis,Morningside College in Sioux City,Iowa,and the University of Wisconsin in River Falls,Wisconsin,where he majored in pre-Law. Prior to running for public office,he served on the Washington County Juvenile Justice Advisory Committee. [5] He is currently a lobbyist for the Ramsey County Sheriff's Department,and resides in Woodbury. [6]
Mee Moua,is an American politician,and is the former president and executive director of the Asian Americans Advancing Justice -AAJC She served as the vice president for strategic impact initiatives at the Asian &Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) from 2011–12,and as a member of the Minnesota state senate from 2002 to 2011. On February 3,2017,Moua announced her departure from AAJC to "spend more time with her family,for her children and their future,and being the right kind of mom for them."

John Hottinger is a Minnesota attorney and politician and a former member and majority leader of the Minnesota Senate. First elected in 1990,he was re-elected in 1992,1996,2000 and 2002. A Democrat,he represented the old District 24 prior to the 2002 redistricting,and the District 23 thereafter. The district included portions of Blue Earth,Le Sueur,Nicollet,Sibley and Waseca counties in the south central part of the state.
Dennis R. Frederickson is a Republican politician from Minnesota and a former Minnesota State Senator. He was first elected in 1980 when he ran for the seat being vacated by Senator Carl Jensen,who was appointed to the Minnesota Tax Court and did not seek re-election. He was re-elected each cycle between 1982 and 2006,receiving only one serious challenge for the position back in 1982 from former New Ulm mayor and state representative Tony Eckstein. His later re-election committees were chaired by former state senator Earl Renneke.
Gary Michael DeCramer was a politician from Minnesota and a Minnesota State Senator. After running unsuccessfully for the state senate in a 1981 special election,he was elected from Ghent in 1982 in the re-districted District 27,and was re-elected in 1986 and 1990. The district included all or portions of Lincoln,Lyon,Murray,Nobles,Pipestone and Rock counties.

Jensen served as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives and the Minnesota Senate representing part of southwestern Minnesota during the 1950s until the 1980s. Jensen was a member of the Republican Party who later switched to become a Democrat at the end of his life.

Geoff Michel is a Minnesota politician and former member of the Minnesota Senate who represented District 41,which included portions of the southwestern Twin Cities suburbs of Edina and Bloomington in Hennepin County. A Republican,he was first elected to the Senate in 2002,succeeding retiring Senator Roy Terwilliger,who represented the area as District 42 before the 2002 legislative redistricting. Michel was reelected in 2006 and 2010.
