Lata Mangeshkar ([ləˈtaː məŋˈɡeːʃkər] is an Indian playback singer and music director. She is one of the best-known and most respected playback singers in India. She has recorded songs in over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six Indian languages and foreign languages, though primarily in Marathi, Hindi and Bengali.
Rahul Dev Burman was an Indian music director. He is widely regarded as one of the most predominant musical forces that Indian cinema has ever witnessed. Burman is considered as one of the greatest music composers of the Indian film industry. From the 1960s to the 1990s, Burman composed musical scores for 331 films. Burman did major work with his wife, Asha Bhosle, and Kishore Kumar and scored many of the songs that made these singers famous. He has also scored many songs sung by his sister-in-law, Lata Mangeshkar. Nicknamed Pancham Da, he was the only son of the composer Sachin Dev Burman.
Prabodh Chandra Dey, known by his stage name Manna Dey, was an internationally acclaimed Indian playback singer, music director, musician and Indian classical vocalist. As a classical vocalist, he belonged to the Bhendibazaar gharana. He was trained under Ustad Aman Ali Khan. He is considered one of the most versatile and celebrated vocalists of the Hindi film industry. He was one of the playback singers credited with the success of Indian classical music in Hindi commercial movies. He debuted in the film Tamanna in 1942. After the song "Upar Gagan Bishal" composed by S D Burman he saw success and went on to record more than 4,000 songs till 2013. The Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri in 1971, the Padma Bhushan in 2005, Padma Vibhusan in 2012 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2007. He also conferred with the foreign awards including Ordre des Arts et des Lettres by the Government of France in 1985.
Bimal Roy was an Indian film director. He is particularly noted for his realistic and socialistic films such as Do Bigha Zamin, Parineeta, Biraj Bahu, Devdas, Madhumati, Sujata, Parakh and Bandini, making him an important director of Hindi cinema. Inspired by Italian neo-realistic cinema, he made Do Bigha Zamin after watching Vittorio De Sica's Bicycle Thieves (1948). His work is particularly known for his mise en scène which he employed to portray realism. He won a number of awards throughout his career, including eleven Filmfare Awards, two National Film Awards, and the International Prize of the Cannes Film Festival. Madhumati won 9 Filmfare Awards in 1958, a record held for 37 years.
Munier Choudhury was a Bangladeshi educationist, playwright, literary critic and political dissident. He was a victim of the mass killing of Bangladeshi intellectuals in 1971. He was awarded Independence Day Award in 1980, by the then President Ziaur Rahman's government, posthumously.
Salil Chowdhury; was an Indian songwriter, music director, lyricist, writer, and poet who predominantly composed for Bengali, Hindi, and Malayalam films. He composed music for films in 13 languages. This includes over 75 Hindi films, 41 Bengali films, around 27 Malayalam films, and a few Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Gujarati, Oriya and Assamese films. His musical ability was widely recognised and acknowledged in the Indian film industry. He was an accomplished composer and arranger who was proficient in several musical instruments, including flute, the piano, and the esraj. He was also widely acclaimed and admired for his inspirational and original poetry in Bengali.
Manohari Singh was an Indian music director, saxophonist and was the main arranger of seminal film composer R. D. Burman. He along worked with Basudeb Chakraborty as music composers, the duo also popularly known as Basu-Manohari.

Ilaiyaraaja is nicknamed "Isaignani" and is often referred to as "Maestro", amongst others by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London.
Debojyoti Mishra, is an Indian music director and film composer. He became popular with his minimalist classical compositions for the Hindi film Raincoat, directed by Rituparno Ghosh. His work on films like Chokher Bali, Bariwali, Arekti Premer Golpo, Memories in March was acclaimed. He also worked on Bengali films, Chaturanga and Sesher Kobita, directed by Suman Mukhopadhyay. The songs he composed for the Bengali film Autograph starring Prasenjit Chatterjee, Nandana Sen and Indraneil Sengupta, gained immense popularity. All the songs of this film created a new vibration in Bengali film music. His composition for Titli was immensely praised as well which includes the famous song "Megh Pioner Bager Vitor" sung by Srikanto. He has also composed music for the Malayalam film Calcutta News, which was set in Kolkata.
Antara Chowdhury is an Indian singer and composer. She is a daughter of Late renowned Composer and Poet Salil Chowdhury and famous singer Late Sabita Chowdhury. She started singing at the age of 7. Her first playback was in the Hindi film 'Minoo' along with greats like Manna Dey and Asha Bhonsle. Songs like Teri Galiomein Hum Aye a duet with Manna Dey and solo O Kali Re Kali Re became very popular.

Sachin Dev Burman was an Indian music director and singer. A member of the Tripura royal family, he started his career with Bengali films in 1937. He later began composing for Hindi movies and became one of the most successful and influential Bollywood film music composers. Burman composed the soundtracks for over 100 movies, including Bengali films and Hindi. Apart from being a versatile composer, he also sang songs in the light semi-classical and folk style of Bengal. His son, R. D. Burman, was also a celebrated music composer for Bollywood films.
Bendhechhi Beena is a Bengali studio album by renowned Bollywood playback singer Shreya Ghoshal. Released on 1 January 1998 by Sagarika Music, the album happens to be the first studio album of Ghoshal, consisting of 14 tracks. The songs are cover versions of classic Bengali hits by songstresses like Parveen Sultana, Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar, Sandhya Mukhopadhyay and many others. The tracks; which have been adapted from compositions by well-known music directors of Bengal including R. D. Burman, Salil Chowdhury and Sudhin Dasgupta; were rearranged by music director Amit Bandyopadhyay for this album.
