Mahindra GenZe, doing business as GenZe and also known as GenZe by Mahindra, was a brand of electric bicycles and scooters. It was a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group of India.

History

In 2013, GenZe introduced their first electric bicycle and electric scooter. [1] The name GenZe was short for Generation Zero Emissions, which was a reference to their products being zero-emissions vehicles. [2] [3]

Operations

GenZe operated as a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group. [4] [5] Its headquarters were located in Fremont, California. [5] [6] GenZe's products were manufactured, hand-assembled, and road-tested in Ann Arbor, Michigan. [5] [7] [8] [9]

In June 2020, it was announced that GenZe would be closing down its operations. [10] [11]

GenZe designed and manufactured electric bicycles and electric scooters intended for consumers and corporate fleets. [2] [4] [12]

Electric bicycles

Their electric bicycles were available through the Ford GoBike public bicycle-sharing system, [6] and the Bike Solar Oakland program in Oakland, California. [13]

Electric scooters

The GenZe electric scooters were introduced in 2015, [14] and were delivered to consumers in December 2015. [15] They were utilized by Postmates delivery service. [1] [9] They were also available through the Scoot Networks public scooter sharing system, [1] which the Mahindra Group's private-equity business had invested in. [16] [17]

Mahindra Last Mile Mobility Limited, formerly known as Mahindra Electric Mobility Limited (2016-2023) and Reva Electric Car Company (2010-2016), is an Indian company based in Bangalore that designs and manufactures compact electric vehicles. The company's first vehicle was the REVAi electric car, available in 26 countries with 4,000 versions sold worldwide by mid-March 2011. It is operated by Motivate in a partnership with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and the Bay Area Air Quality Management District. Bay Wheels is the first regional and large-scale bicycle sharing system deployed in California and on the West Coast of the United States. It was established as Bay Area Bike Share in August 2013. As of 2022, the company's fleet of vehicles includes the Mahindra e-Verito, Tata e-Tigor, Tata Xpres-T EV, Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS Electric. It is India's first all-electric shared smart mobility platform.
