Gerard Louis Brophy (born 26 November 1975, [1] Welkom,Orange Free State,South Africa) is a first-class cricketer,latterly contracted to Yorkshire. He has also played for Ireland,Free State,Northamptonshire and Transvaal in a well travelled career.
He was educated at Christian Brothers College,Boksburg,and made his first-class debut in the 1996/97 South African season. Standing relatively tall for a keeper at five feet eleven inches,he has taken 301 first-class catches and completed 22 stumpings. A right hand batsman,he has scored 5,520 runs at 32.09 with eight hundreds and a best of 185. He has played in 123 List A matches,scoring 2,069 runs at 25.54 with a top score of 93* and 60 Twenty20 games,making 776 runs at 19.40 with a best of 57*.
Although born in South Africa,he holds a British passport,and so is not considered an overseas player in the English first class game. He represented East Transvaal in that sport in 1991. He struggled with the bat in his first season with Yorkshire in 2006, [1] and faced a fight for a first team place with Simon Guy and Greg Wood. However,he prevailed,although Brophy latterly shared keeping duties for Yorkshire with Jonny Bairstow.
In August 2012,Yorkshire released Brophy from the remainder of his playing contract,and signed Andrew Hodd on loan from Sussex,to act as wicketkeeping cover for Bairstow in the County Championship. Brophy,who had been at Yorkshire since 2006,was informed that his contract would not be renewed for 2013,and was free to pursue other opportunities. [2]
Norman Walter Dransfield Yardley was an English cricketer who played for Cambridge University,Yorkshire County Cricket Club and England,as a right-handed batsman and occasional bowler. An amateur,he captained Yorkshire from 1948 to 1955 and England on fourteen occasions between 1947 and 1950,winning four Tests,losing seven and drawing three. Yardley was named Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1948,and in his obituary in Wisden Cricketers' Almanack he was described as Yorkshire's finest amateur since Stanley Jackson.
Barry Anderson Richards is a former South African first-class cricketer. A right-handed "talent of such enormous stature",Richards is considered one of South Africa's most successful batsmen. He was able to play only four Test matches –all against Australia –before South Africa's exclusion from the international scene in 1970. In that brief career,against a competitive Australian attack,Richards scored 508 runs at the high average of 72.57. Richards' contribution in that series was instrumental in the 4–0 win that South Africa inflicted on the side,captained by Bill Lawry. His first century,140,was scored in conjunction with Graeme Pollock's 274 in a famous 103-run partnership. Mike Procter,whose South African and English career roughly paralleled that of Richards,was prominent in that series as a bowler.
David Leslie Bairstow was an English cricketer,who played for Yorkshire and England as a wicket-keeper. He also played football for his hometown club Bradford City. He is the father of England international cricketer Jonny Bairstow.
Steven John Rhodes is an English cricket coach and former cricketer. He was the former coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team. He was best known as a wicket-keeper,but was also a useful number six or seven batsman,making twelve first-class centuries.
George Aubrey Faulkner was a South African cricketer who played 25 Test matches for South Africa and fought in both the Second Boer War and World War I. In cricket,he was an all-rounder who was among the best batsmen in the world at his peak and was one of the first leg spin bowlers to use the googly.

He became only the second cricketer after Dennis Amiss to score a century on ODI debut for England and ninth player overall to do so. David Owen Nosworthy is a South African former cricketer. A right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm medium and off break bowler,he enjoyed modest success as a player playing 29 first-class matches and 14 list A games,but has made his name as a coach and his portfolio of first-class coaching roles include the South African franchises Highveld Lions and Nashua Titans,in New Zealand with Canterbury and in England with Somerset.

Craig Kieswetter is an English professional golfer and former cricketer who appeared in 71 matches for the England cricket team between 2010 and 2013. Born and raised in South Africa,Kieswetter moved to England to complete his education,and began playing county cricket for Somerset in 2007. Three years later,he made his international debut in a One Day International (ODI) against Bangladesh. A wicket-keeper batsman,he was considered a one-day specialist,and all his international appearances came in ODIs or Twenty20 Internationals.
Andrew John Hodd is a former English cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper,who ended his career playing for Yorkshire. He was born in Chichester.
James William Arthur Taylor is an English former cricketer and cricket selector who played for Nottinghamshire and England. A right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm leg break bowler,Taylor made his debut in first-class cricket in 2008 for Leicestershire and made major impressions in his first county seasons. He is noted as being a fine fielder in the covers. He became the youngest Leicestershire one-day centurion and first-class double centurion. In 2009,Taylor also became the youngest player in Leicestershire's history to score 1,000 championship runs in a season. A promising talent in his 34 white-ball appearances for England,Taylor was forced into retirement at just 26 years of age due to a previously undiagnosed heart condition.

Oliver John Douglas Pope is an English professional cricketer who plays for the England cricket team and Surrey County Cricket Club. He is a right-handed batter who occasionally plays as a wicket-keeper. He made his Test debut against India in 2018.
