The Gibalta rail accident occurred on 31 March 1952, on the Linha de Cascais (Cascais line) in Portugal. It was a derailment due to landslides caused by adverse weather conditions and the bad conservation status of the surrounding land. The accident resulted in 10 dead and 38 injured. [1]

The cave was the first to be depicted in moving pictures, in the 1896 British film A Sea Cave Near Lisbon, which shows waves breaking at the mouth of the cave.

The Sanctuary of Peninha is situated in the Sintra Mountains in the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, in the Lisbon District of Portugal. It stands at an altitude of 448 metres on top of a rocky outcrop, which provides views over the coastline and inland areas. In addition to a baroque chapel, completed in 1710, the location contains the Palace of Peninha, which dates from 1918, as well as remains of a hermitage. The interiors of neither the chapel nor the palace can presently be visited.

Casa de São Bernardo is a building in Cascais in the Lisbon District of Portugal that was owned by Bernardo Pinheiro Correia de Melo, First Count of Arnoso, who was private secretary to King Carlos. It is considered to be an example of the summer architecture found in Cascais and neighbouring Estoril from the 1870s onwards. The building was designed in 1890 but not completed until 1902.

Linhó Detention Center is a Portuguese detention center in Alcabideche, Cascais, that serves the Lisbon Metropolitan Area. It has about 500 inmates.
