Gilbert Van Binst (born 5 July 1951 in Machelen) is a former Belgian football player who played as a defender.
He played for over a decade for Anderlecht, beginning his professional career with the club in 1968. He won numerous domestic and continental honours during his time with the club, most famously scoring two goals in the win over Austria Wien in the 1978 European Cup Winners' Cup Final. [1] [2] He would move to France to play for Toulouse FC for one season in 1980. He returned to Belgium in 1981, finishing his career by playing for Anderlecht's city rivals Club Brugge.
Van Binst earned 15 caps for Belgium. He was a part of the squad that finished third at the 1972 European Championships on home soil. [3]

Pieter Robert "Rob" Rensenbrink was a Dutch footballer and member of the Netherlands national team that reached two FIFA World Cup finals, in 1974 and 1978. A creative and prolific left winger or forward, he became a legend in Belgium while playing in the great Anderlecht sides of the 1970s. He is the UEFA Cup Winners' Cup's all-time top scorer, with 25 goals. A talented dribbler as well as a cool finisher and adequate passer, he only ever missed two penalties in his entire career. He was also the first winner of the Onze d'Or in 1976.

It was the final match of the 1977–78 European Cup Winners' Cup and the 18th European Cup Winners' Cup final. The final was held at Parc des Princes in Paris, France, on 3 May 1978.
