The Glamorgan County Championships [1] or Glamorgan Championships was a combined WLTA/ILTF affiliated grass court tennis tournament founded in 1912. [2] Also known as the Glamorganshire Championships . [3] It was first played at the Dinas Powis LTC, in Dinas Powis, Glamorgan, Wales. It was then played in Cardiff towards the end of its run, [4] until 1970 when it was discontinued. [5]

Kenneth Robert Rosewall is an Australian former world top-ranking professional tennis player. Rosewall won 147 singles titles, including a record 15 Pro Majors and 8 Grand Slam titles for a total 23 titles at pro and amateur majors. He also won 15 Pro Majors in doubles and 9 Grand Slam doubles titles. Rosewall achieved a Pro Slam in singles in 1963 by winning the three Pro Majors in one year and he completed the Career Grand Slam in doubles.

Dorothy Edith Round, was a British tennis player who was active from the late 1920s until 1950. She achieved her major successes in the 1930s. She won the singles title at Wimbledon in 1934 and 1937, and the singles at the Australian Championships in 1935. She also had success as a mixed doubles player at Wimbledon, winning a total of three titles. After her wedding in 1937, she played under her married name, Mrs D.L. Little. During the Second World War, she played in North America and became a professional coach in Canada and the United States. Tennis Wales (Welsh: Tennis Cymru) is the national governing body for tennis in Wales. It is part of the British tennis governing body, the Lawn Tennis Association. It was founded as the Welsh Lawn Tennis Association (WLTA) in 1887.

The British Hard Court Championships was a Grand Prix tennis and WTA Tour affiliated tennis tournament, played in the Open Era from 1968 to 1983 and again from 1995 to 1999.

This article covers the period from 1877 to present. Before the beginning of the Open Era in April 1968, only amateurs were allowed to compete in established tennis tournaments, including the four Grand Slam tournaments. Wimbledon, the oldest of the majors, was founded in 1877, followed by the US Open in 1881, the French Open in 1891 and the Australian Open in 1905. Beginning in 1905 and continuing to the present day, all four majors have been played yearly, with the exception of during the two World Wars, 1986 for the Australian Open, and 2020 for Wimbledon. The Australian Open is the first major of the year (January), followed by the French Open (May–June), Wimbledon (June–July) and the US Open (August–September). There was no prize money and players were compensated for travel expenses only. A player who wins all four majors, in singles or as part of a doubles team, in the same calendar year is said to have achieved a "Grand Slam". If the player wins all four consecutively, but not in the same calendar year, it is called a "Non-Calendar Year Grand Slam". Winning all four at some point in a career, even if not consecutively, is referred to as a "Career Grand Slam". Winning the four majors and a gold medal in tennis at the Summer Olympics in the same calendar year has been called a "Golden Slam" since 1988. Winning all four majors plus an Olympic gold at some point in a career, even if not consecutively, is referred to as a "Career Golden Slam". Winning the year-end championship while also having won a Golden Slam is referred to as a "Super Slam". The 1967 Men's World Tennis Circuit was an annual series of 217 tournaments composed of two subsidiary circuits the 41st Pro Tennis Tour (professional) and the 54th ILTF World Circuit (amateur). The season began in February in Sydney, Australia, and ended in December in Melbourne, Australia.

The Welsh Championships its original name until 1970 was also known as the Championship of Wales (1951), the Welsh Open (1947–50) the Green Shield Welsh Championships and Green Shield Welsh Open (1970–74) for sponsorship reasons was an outdoor tennis event held from 1886 through 1974 it was played at various locations throughout its duration including Cardiff, Newport and Penarth in Wales. The dates that the tournament was held varied between June and July annually.

The Scottish Championships its original name until 1994 also known as the Scottish Lawn Tennis Championships, and the Scottish Grass Court Championships, was an outdoor tennis event held from 1878 through 1994. It was played at various locations throughout its duration including Bridge of Allan, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Moffat, Peebles, and St Andrews in Scotland. The dates the tournament was held fluctuated between June and August annually.

The Sutton Coldfield Hard Courts Championship also known as the Sutton Coldfield Hard Courts was a men's and women's clay court tennis tournament founded in 1926 as the Sutton Coldfield Hard Courts Lawn Tennis Club Tournament. The Cardiff Open was a men's and women's grass court tennis tournament was founded in 1929 as the Cardiff LTC Tournament. It played annually through till 1975 when it was discontinued. The tournament was played at the Cardiff Lawn Tennis Club, Cardiff, Great Britain. It played annually through till 1972 when it was discontinued.

Maria Cecilia "Beatrice" Langrishe was an Irish tennis player during the late 19th century. She was a singles finalist at the Irish Championships in 1883. She was active from 1879 to 1890 and won 2 career singles titles.
