The Redcliffe Dolphins are a semi-professional rugby league club based in Redcliffe, Queensland, Australia. Founded in 1947, they were accepted into the Brisbane Rugby League (BRL) premiership competition in 1960, and since 1996 have played in the Queensland Cup. The Redcliffe Dolphins thrived in the BRL. However, the 1988 admission of the Brisbane Broncos team in the New South Wales Rugby League competition caused the decline of the BRL.
The Queensland Cup, currently known as the Hostplus Cup for sponsorship reasons, is the highest-level regional rugby league football competition in Queensland, Australia. It is run by the Queensland Rugby League (QRL) and is contested by fifteen teams, thirteen of which are based in Queensland, with one based in New South Wales and one in Central Province, Papua New Guinea.
Australian rules football in Queensland was the first official football code played in 1866. The Colony of Queensland was the second after Victoria to adopt Australian rules football, just days after the rules were widely published. For two decades it was the most popular football code, however a strong desire for representative football success saw Queenslanders favour British football variants for more than a century. 120 years later in 1986 Queensland was the first state awarded a licence to have a club, the Brisbane Bears, in the national (AFL) competition, also its first privately owned club. However the Gold Coast based Bears had a detrimental effect until the 1993 redevelopment of the Brisbane Cricket Ground (Gabba). In contrast the Bears transformation into a Brisbane and traditional membership based club resulted in enormous growth, and a tripling of average AFL attendances by 1996.

The Queensland Australian Football League is an Australian rules football competition organised by the AFL Queensland, contested by clubs from South East Queensland.
Sport is an important part of the culture of the Australian state of Queensland. Golf is the most played organised sport and touch football is the most played team sport. Netball is the most popular female sport, while rugby league is the most watched sport. Queensland also has two AFL teams, the Queensland Reds in Super Rugby, and two National Basketball League teams, the Brisbane Bullets, Cairns Taipans and Premier Gymnastics. Rugby league in Queensland is the most popular winter sport in the state. Rugby league was introduced in 1908 and within just a few years it surpassed rugby union there to become the most popular football code as players switched to play professionally in the Queensland Rugby League. In the 1920s, Queenslanders began leaving to play professionally in the New South Wales Rugby League which became a more popular competition. However Queensland maintained a strong rugby league culture, with the state continuing to perform well in interstate rugby league. The later advent of the State of Origin series ensured that players would return to represent their state.
Queensland Premier Cricket is the top cricket competition played in Queensland, Australia. The competition was founded under the name Brisbane Electoral Cricket in 1897 and eventually came to be known as Brisbane Grade Cricket, but has since expanded to take in teams from Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, and Ipswich.

He made his international debut for the Australia cricket team in June 2022.

Nerang Eagles Soccer Club is a semi-professional soccer club based in Nerang, Queensland, Australia. The club play in the Football Queensland Premier League 3 − South Coast, the fourth flight of men's soccer in Queensland and the fifth flight of Australian soccer. The Eagles won the inaugural Gold Coast top-flight premiership and championship in 1975.
Andrew Robinson is an Australian cricketer. He played in twelve first-class and seven List A matches for Queensland between 2010 and 2012. He also played in seven Twenty20 matches for the Brisbane Heat in 2011/12. He is the all-time leading run-scorer for Gold Coast in Queensland Premier Cricket.
Jack Wood is an Australian cricketer. He made his Twenty20 debut on 11 December 2020, for the Brisbane Heat, in the 2020–21 Big Bash League season.
Will Prestwidge is an Australian cricketer who plays as a bowler. In May 2021, along with fellow player James Bazley, Prestwidge was awarded with a rookie contract with the Queensland cricket team ahead of the 2021-22 domestic cricket season in Australia. Prestwidge also represents the Northern Suburbs District Cricket Club in Queensland Premier Cricket.
