Composed of just two blocks near the border between Grafton Hill and Dayton View, the historic district comprises a cohesive collection of houses dating primarily from the turn of the 20th century, and it has been named a historic site.

Elk / Midway Hotel (1894), and Katie B. Frame Residence. The two structures are the Bridge over Old Woman Run (1892) and Bridge over Elk (1930).

The original district encompassed 59 contributing buildings; the boundary increase added 53 more contributing buildings. It includes the central business district of Huntington, and includes several of its municipal and governmental buildings. It contains the majority of the historic concentration of downtown commercial buildings. Notable buildings include the Huntington City Hall, Johnson Memorial Church (c.1886/1912/1935), Trinity Episcopal Church (1882), Davis Opera House, Love Hardware Building, Reuschleins Jewelry building (1923), the Newcomb Building, the Morrison Building (1919), Keith-Albee Theater (1928), West Virginia Building, and Gideon Building. Located in the district are the separately listed Carnegie Public Library, Cabell County Courthouse, U.S. Post Office and Court House, and Campbell-Hicks House.
Bluefield Downtown Commercial Historic District is a national historic district located at Bluefield, Mercer County, West Virginia. The district includes 73 contributing buildings in Bluefield's central business district. The buildings are primarily three and four story masonry commercial buildings. Notable buildings include The Shamrock Restaurant (1885), People's Bank (1895), the Art Deco / Moderne style Colonial Theatre and Appalachian Power Company building, Law and Commerce Building, Benevolent Protective Order of Elks Building, First Christian Church (1920), Elizabeth Kee Federal Building and Post Office (1911), Bluefield Sanatorium, and West Virginia Hotel (1923) designed by Alex B. Mahood. Located in the district is the separately listed Municipal Building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The district has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since May 2, 1996. Ten of the contributing buildings are listed separately on the National Register of Historic Places. Significant structures located within the historic district are the Monongalia County Courthouse, the Metropolitan Theater, and the Old Morgantown Post Office.

The district encompasses 32 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 2 contributing objects in the central business district of Christiansburg. The district includes a variety of one-, two-, or three-story commercial or office buildings built primarily from the 1915-1950 period. The courthouse square is the cultural and historic center of the district. Notable buildings include the Taylor Office Building, Bank of Christiansburg (1963), Dr. George Anderson House, Zirkle Building (1910), Cromer Furniture Building, Presbyterian Manse (1876), Barnes-Surface Motor Co., Virginia Inn Hotel, and Leggett's Department Store (1958). The contributing objects are the Confederate Memorial (1883) and War Memorial (1953). Located in the district and separately listed are Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, U.S. Post Office, and Phlegar Building.
The Plymouth Historic District encompasses a cluster of five civic buildings and the town common of Plymouth, New Hampshire. The buildings are arrayed on the west side of Plymouth's town common, laid out not long after the town's settlement in 1763. The 2-acre (0.81 ha) district includes the town hall/court house, the Pemigewasset National Bank building, and the US Post Office building, as well as the Old Grafton County Courthouse. The Plymouth Congregation Church also falls within the district bounds, but is not considered contributing. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.
The West Hill Historic District in Muscatine, Iowa is a historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008. At that time, it included 258 contributing buildings, two contributing objects, two contributing sites, and 67 non-contributing buildings. The city of Muscatine was established as Bloomington in 1836. The original town was built on land that is generally flat along the Mississippi River. Residential areas were built on the surrounding hills, while commercial and industrial interests developed on the flatter land near the river. The West Hill Historic District is immediately to the west of the Downtown Commercial Historic District. The period of significance for West Hill begins in 1839 and ends in 1958. Some of the largest and oldest historic houses in Muscatine are located here, but it also includes smaller residences of the working and middle class. By 1915, 180 of the historic houses had been built. The rest were built from 1916 to 1958. Another eight houses were built between 1960 and 1995. A majority of the houses (80%) are two stories in height. Frame construction (70%) outnumbers brick construction (30%). The architectural styles that were prominent across the country are also found here and were built at the time they were popular.
The Downtown Commercial Historic District encompasses most of the central business district of Burlington, Iowa, United States. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015. The historic district includes 65 properties that were part of a 2012 to 2013 survey of the area. It also includes as contributing properties the buildings in the West Jefferson Street Historic District and three buildings in the Manufacturing and Wholesale Historic District that were previously listed on the National Register. All total there are 122 resources within the district, which includes 108 contributing and 14 non-contributing properties.
