Although Greece has had successful athletes at the Olympic Games, winning medals as early as the first ever Olympic Games, a Greek gymnast would not win a World Championships medal until Ioannis Melissanidis won silver on floor exercise at the 1994 World Championships. [1] As of 2024 only male artistic gymnastics have won World Championship medals for Greece. [2]

Nikolaos Andriakopoulos was a Greek gymnast. He was a member of Panachaikos Gymnastikos Syllogos, that merged in 1923 with Gymnastiki Etaireia Patron to become Panachaiki Gymnastiki Enosi.
Paraskevi ("Voula") Patoulidou is a Greek former athlete and politician. Born in Tripotamo, Patoulidou throughout her athletics career competed in the 100 metres, 100 metres hurdles and in the long jump events. In 1992, she was the surprise winner of the Women's 100 m hurdles race at the Olympic Games in Barcelona, and she was voted the Best Balkan Athlete that same year.

Ioannis Bourousis, commonly known as Giannis Bourousis is a Greek former professional basketball player and basketball executive. He is the general manager of the Greek basketball club ASK Karditsa. During his playing career, at a height of 7 ft 3⁄4 in tall and a weight of 270 lb. (122 kg), Bourousis played at the center position. Bourousis, who was a two-time All-EuroLeague First Team selection, was compared to FIBA Hall of Fame / Basketball Hall of Fame center Vlade Divac, by San Antonio Spurs' head coach Gregg Popovich.

Ioannis Drymonakos is a Greek swimmer from Athens. He became the first ever Greek swimmer to hold a European swimming record by clocking a time of 1:54.16 seconds in 200 m butterfly event of the 2008 European Aquatics Championships final on 21 March 2008.
