Srinagar is a city in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir in the disputed Kashmir region. It is the largest city and summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, which is an Indian-administered union territory. It lies in the Kashmir Valley along the banks of the Jhelum River, and the shores of Dal Lake and Anchar Lakes, between the Hari Parbat and Shankaracharya hills. The city is known for its natural environment, various gardens, waterfronts and houseboats. It is also known for traditional Kashmiri handicrafts like the Kashmir shawl, papier-mâché, wood carving, carpet weaving, and jewel making, as well as for dried fruits. It is the second-largest metropolitan area in the Himalayas.
Baramulla, also known as Varmul in Kashmiri, is a City and municipality of the Baramulla district of the Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir in the disputed Kashmir region. It is also the administrative headquarters of the Baramulla district, located on the banks of the River Jhelum downstream from Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir. The town is known as gateway of Kashmir, serving as the major distribution centre for goods arriving in Kashmir valley through the Jhelum valley cart road.

Amitabh Mattoo is one of India's leading thinkers and writers on Modern and Contemporary History, Political science, International relations. He was awarded Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2009. He is a professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University and honorary professor of international relations at the University of Melbourne. Until 19 June 2018, he served as Advisor to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, with the status of a Cabinet Minister. Mattoo is a member of the Academic Advisory Board of the German Institute for Global and Area Studies and was recently elected unanimously as its Deputy Chair. He was the founding CEO of the Australia India Institute at the University of Melbourne and served as chairman of the governing board of Miranda House, University of Delhi, the highest-ranked women's college in India, and served as Chair of Kirori Mal College earlier He has also been a member of the Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing. In 2002, he was the youngest person to be appointed as vice chancellor of a public university in independent India. Mattoo's advice on policy matters has been sought across political parties and across governments, including by Prime Ministers Atal Behari Vajpayee and Dr Manmohan Singh. Following the abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, he has offered a political roadmap for securing the future of Jammu and Kashmir. He has been a persistent advocate of multiculturalism and of reconciliation between Kashmiri Pandits and Kashmiri Muslims.
Presentation Convent Higher Secondary School is a selective K-12 independent day school for girls in Rajbagh, on the banks of Jhelum River, Srinagar. It was started in 1936 and run by the Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also known as Presentation Sisters. It was started to educate Dr. Karan Singh, then Crown Prince of the princely state of Jammu and Kashmir. It was started in 1936 by Mother Peter Conway, Mother Sacred Heart, Mother Annunciata, and Mother Xavier. The nuns travelled to Srinagar from Rawalpindi upon the request of the Maharaja Hari Singh.
On 26 May 2008, the government of India and the state Government of Jammu and Kashmir reached an agreement to transfer 99 acres (0.40 km2) of forest land to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) in the main Kashmir valley to set up temporary shelters and facilities for Hindu pilgrims. This caused a controversy, with demonstrations from the Kashmir valley against the land transfer and protests from the Jammu region supporting it. The largest demonstration saw more than 500,000 protesters at a single rally, among the largest in Kashmir's history.

The 84-kilometre road traces a historic route used in the Mughal period over the Pir Panjal Pass, at an altitude of 3,500 m (11,500 ft), higher than the Banihal pass at 2,832 m (9,291 ft).
Soura, known as Sovur in Kashmiri, is a neighborhood in Indian-administered Srinagar in the disputed region of Jammu and Kashmir. It is located about 9 km north of Lal Chowk, Srinagar on Srinagar-Ladakh Highway in Jammu and Kashmir, India. Soura is noted for Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences, a multi-specialty hospital. Besides serving as a hospital, it is the medical deemed university of Kashmir valley. Soura is located near Anchar Lake. The whole western side of the area is covered by Anchar Lake. It also hosts a famous Muslim Shrine known as Asar-e-Sharif Jinab Sahib Soura which holds more than 13 holy relics.
St. Joseph's Catholic Church is a parish of the Roman Catholic Church in Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It was established in 1891 by the Mill Hill Missionaries, making it the oldest Catholic church in Jammu and Kashmir, and currently belongs to the Jammu Srinagar Diocese. St. Joseph's Church, St. Joseph's Hospital and St. Joseph's School are located on the same campus as the parish church. It is the only church in the town, and there are only few Christian families in the community.
The Government Medical College, Srinagar is a government medical college and hospital located in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, India. It was established in 1959. It is the oldest medical college in Kashmir. The college and hospital are affiliated with the University of Kashmir and recognized by the Medical Council of India. The college is located in the Karan Nagar area of Srinagar, about 1.5 km (0.93 mi) from Lal Chowk. The girls' hostel is located within the campus but the boys' hostel is one km (0.62 mi) away. It has well-equipped labs. The selection to the college is done on the basis of merit through National Eligibility and Entrance Test.
Zakura, also known as Zukura and Zukur, is a notified area and town in the Srinagar district of the Kashmir Valley, in the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. The town is the integral part of Hazratbal constituency. The area is located about 12 km from commercial center of the Kashmir Valley. The area provides at least two major road links which connects municipal committee of Ganderbal with Srinagar.

Basera E Tabassum ("BeT") is an Indian girls' shelter. It was started in 2002 for girls who lost their parents as a result of armed conflict or terrorism during the ongoing Kashmir conflict. The mission of BeT is "To provide a secure home to the girls in the armed conflict".
Borderless World Foundation (BWF) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization registered under India's Societies Registration Act, 1860. Working in Jammu and Kashmir, along the conflict-riven border region in between India, Pakistan & China, BWF has rescued hundreds of girls orphaned in the conflict along the India-Pakistan border. BWF carries out a variety of activities, including disaster relief and emergency medical support for the community and rescuing children left orphaned by the ongoing conflict.
Toolihalan is a small village in Shopian district in Jammu and Kashmir, India. Toolihalan is situated on the banks of Rambi Ara, 4.3 km (2.7 mi) away from Shopian. The village is bounded by Chowgam towards East, Devepora towards West, Day Gam village towards North, and Hirpora Wildlife Sanctuary towards South. It has decades-old road that connects it to the main town of Shopian.

Lieutenant General Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon, PVSM, UYSM, YSM, VSM is a retired General Officer of the Indian Army and the Chairperson of the Board of Governors (BoG) of IIT Mandi. He last served as the Director General Defence Intelligence Agency and Deputy Chief of Integrated Defence Staff (Intelligence) under the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) from 9 March 2020 to 31 January 2022. Prior to this, he served as the 48th Commander of the XV Corps assuming the post from Lieutenant General Anil Kumar Bhatt.
Ichgam, also known as Ichigam, is a census town located in the Indian administered union territory of Jammu and Kashmir's Budgam district. It falls under the administrative division of tehsil Budgam, one of the nine tehsils of district Budgam. It is one of the most populated area of Budgam district. It is roughly 5 km (3.1 mi) away from district Budgam and nearly 19 km (12 mi) away from Srinagar, the summer capital of union territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Ichgam village consists of four blocks — Ichgam-A, Ichgam-B, Ichgam-C and Ichgam-D. The village consists of both major sects of Islam, Shias (85-90%) and Sunnis(10-15%). There is also a Hindu minority.
