Gregory David Massialas (born May 20, 1956) is an American foil fencer and fencing coach.
A reserve for the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal, he was set to make his Olympic début at the Moscow Games in 1980, but did not compete due to the 66-team boycott of the games. [1] He was one of 461 athletes to receive a Congressional Gold Medal the same year. [2] He competed at the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics. [3]
He is the founder and head coach of the Massialas Foundation (MTEAM), a fencing club in San Francisco. Since 2012 he is the national coach of the United States senior foil team, which includes his own son Alexander. He brought the club to a No.1 world ranking, with each of its four members ranking individually in the Top 10 and Miles Chamley-Watson winning the 2013 World Fencing Championships. Massialas' daughter Sabrina, now a senior, is also a high-level foil fencer.
Michael Marx is an American foil and epee fencer and fencing master. He is the brother of Robert Marx, who has also represented the U.S. in multiple Olympic fencing events. Michael and his brother were taught to fence by their mother, fencing coach Colleen Olney, who is considered by many prominent fencers to be "the mother of fencing in Oregon".

Frances Anne "Francie" Larrieu Smith is an American track and field athlete. She was the flagbearer at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona for the United States of America. Larrieu Smith was the third female American athlete to make five American Olympic teams, behind the six of fencer Jan York-Romary and Track and Field's Willye White. The feat was later equaled by basketball player Teresa Edwards, track and field's Gail Devers, cyclist/speedskater Chris Witty and swimmer Dara Torres. After one of the longest elite careers on record, she retired from that level of competition.

He was one of 461 athletes to receive a Congressional Gold Medal many years later.

Nikki Franke is an American former fencer and fencing coach. She fenced for Brooklyn College, and was an All American. She competed in the women's individual and team foil events at the 1976 Summer Olympics, and fenced at the 1975 and 1979 Pan American Games, earning a silver medal in the individual competition in 1975, and a bronze medal in the team event in both years. As head coach of the Temple University women's fencing team, she was named the USFCA Coach of the Year in 1983, 1987, 1988, and 1991.

The men's foil competition in fencing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was held on 7 August at the Carioca Arena 3. The medals were presented by Paul Tergat, IOC member, Kenya and Donald Anthony Jr., Executive Board Member of FIE. There were 35 competitors from 19 nations. The event was won by Daniele Garozzo of Italy, the nation's ninth victory in the men's foil and first since 1996. The silver medalist was American Alexander Massialas, earning the United States' first medal in the event since 1960. Timur Safin of Russia took bronze.
The men's team foil event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place on 1 August 2021 at the Makuhari Messe. 27 fencers from 9 nations are expected to compete.
