Overview

Conceived and compiled by Engine Room Recordings, the album brings together a variety of artists in the indie music scene.

Engine Room Recordings held a music video contest in support of the album's release. The winner was Andy Cahill, and his video for Devendra Banhart's cover of the Oasis song "Don't Look Back in Anger" is available for viewing on YouTube and Engine Room Recordings' homepage.

On November 18, 2008, Engine Room released a sequel, Guilt by Association Vol. 2 . The third installment of the series, Guilt by Association Vol. 3 , was released on November 15, 2011.

"Say My Name" is a song by the American girl group Destiny's Child from their second studio album The Writing's on the Wall (1999). It was written by Beyoncé Knowles, LeToya Luckett, LaTavia Roberson and Kelly Rowland along with LaShawn Daniels, Fred Jerkins III and Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, featuring production by the latter. Lowry (band)

Lowry is a Brooklyn-based indie rock band with members originally hailing from Kansas, New Zealand, Australia, North Carolina and Canada. Originally emerging from New York City's "anti-folk" scene, the band has gone through several incarnations before settling into its current line-up in early 2008. Their debut studio album 'Awful Joy', which blended alternative country, psychedelia and rock was released in 2005. Signed to Engine Room Recordings in 2008, they released their sophomore studio album 'Love Is Dead' October 26, 2008.

The Pack was a hip hop group formed in Berkeley, California, in 2004. The group consisted of Lil B, Young L, Stunnaman, and Lil Uno. They all recorded together for over a year at Young L's home studio where they released their first two mixtapes Wolfpack Muzik Vol. 1 and Wolfpack Muzik Vol. 2. The Pack expanded their fanbase and eventually got signed to a major label, when Too Short signed The Pack to his Jive Records-distributed label Up All Nite Records. The Pack is usually known for their skateboard raps and the sexually explicit content of many of their songs. The group is best known for the track "Vans". The Pack has also collaborated with musicians such as Soulja Boy, Wiz Khalifa, Dev, and The Cataracs.

My Brightest Diamond is the project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Shara Nova. The band has released five studio albums and a remix album, five studio EPs and four remix EPs, and made several tours across the United States.

Murder Mystery is an American indie rock band from Detroit, Michigan. The group started in the college town of Mount Pleasant, Michigan in 1999 but moved to Detroit in 2003, attracted by the burgeoning music scene of that city. "Burnin' for You" is a song by American hard rock band Blue Öyster Cult. It was released as the lead single from the band's eighth studio album, Fire of Unknown Origin, released in July 1981, where it was the album's second track. The song was co-written by guitarist Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser and rock critic songwriter Richard Meltzer, who wrote lyrics for several of the band's songs. Roeser sang lead vocals on the song in lieu of Blue Öyster Cult's usual lead vocalist Eric Bloom.

The Bloodsugars are a Brooklyn-based rock band, composed of Jason Rabinowitz, Brendan O'Grady, Matt Katz, and Kenneth Salters. Rabinowitz is the primary singer and songwriter in the band. Mark B. Christensen

Mark Christensen is a studio owner and Chief Mastering Engineer at Engine Room Audio in New York City. Christensen is currently known for mastering, producing, or mixing music in the genres of rock, pop, R&B, classical, and hip hop. Christensen has worked on hundreds of albums, and five have been nominated for Grammy Awards as of 2014, with two wins. Christensen has also mastered over thirty Billboard chart top ten hits, and around 25 of the releases have gone platinum or gold. Through the studio he has mastered material by OK GO, The Killers, 98 Degrees, Boyz II Men, Tony Braxton, Talib Kweli, Trey Songz, 50 Cent, Ryan Leslie and The Ting Tings, among others.
