Gulshan Lal Tandon was a pioneer in the Indian Mining Industry, the former Chairman of Coal India Limited who played a major role in establishment of Coal India. [1] [2] [3] Mr. Tandon received Padma Bhushan , India's third highest civilian honour, in 1986 for his services to Indian mining industry. [4] He died on 2 August 2012. [5]

Career

Gulshan Lal Tandon received his B Tech degree in Mining from Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad in 1951. He served as the Chairman of Neyveli Lignite Corporation and Coal India Ltd. Mr. Tandon was convenor of the Ministry of Industry for evaluation of PSUs in Mineral and Power Sector. He has been director of several companies like Sharda Motor Industries Ltd, Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys ltd, VBC Industries Ltd and Tanishq Consultancy among others. [6]

B. V. Raju

Bhupathiraju Vissam Raju (1920-2002) is an Indian industrialist, a former chairman of Raasi Cements and the Cement Corporation of India and one of the pioneers of Indian cement industry. He was the director of Sagi Ramakrishnam Raju Constructions and Prasad and Company Project Works Limited. He was also interested in ceramics and refractory industries and is the founder of the Padmasri Dr. B.V Raju Institute of Technology. The Government of India awarded him the fourth-highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri in 1977 and followed it with the third-highest honour of Padma Bhushan in 2001.

Ale Ahmad Suroor was an Urdu poet, critic and professor from India. He is best known for his literary criticism. In 1974 he was honoured with the Sahitya Akademi Award by the Government of India for his literary critic work, Nazar aur Nazariya. In 1991 he was also awarded the Padma Bhushan, India's third highest civilian award. He was awarded a special gold medal by the President of Pakistan on the centenary of the birth of Muhammad Iqbal.

Badri Nath Tandon is an Indian gastroenterologist, hepatologist, medical researcher and academic, and the Chairman and Senior Consultant of Gastroenterology, at Metro Hospitals and Heart Institute, Noida. He is a former Professor and Head of Department of Gastroenterology and Human Nutrition Unit at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi (AIIMS) and a former Director and Senior Consultant of Hepatology and Gastroenterology at Pushpawati Singhania Research Institute for Liver, Renal and Digestive Diseases, New Delhi. He is a recipient of several awards including Sasakawa WHO Health Prize and Jubilee Medal of the RAMS. The Government of India awarded him the third highest civilian honour of the Padma Bhushan, in 1986, for his contributions to medicine.
