Guy Noble is an Australian musical composer, conductor, pianist and broadcaster. [1]
Noble studied piano in the early 1980s at the Sydney Conservatorium. On a scholarship from the Australia Council he travelled to London where he worked for four years, including a stint as presenter on BBC Radio 3. [2] In 1984, he was pianist in the Sydney Youth Orchestra and from 1984 to 1986 in the Australian Youth Orchestra. [3] Noble was the inaugural recipient of the Brian Stacey Memorial Trust Award for emerging Australian conductors in 1998; the trust, in collaboration with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, financed the composition and recording of Noble's Flute Concerto, [4] written for Jane Rutter. [5]
In 2022 he was appointed as the conductor and host of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. [6]
Prior to that he conducted the Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, [7] [8] [9] West Australian, [10] Tasmanian, Queensland and Canberra symphony orchestras, the Auckland Philharmonia, and the Hong Kong Philharmonic [11] and Malaysian Philharmonic orchestras. [12] [13]
Noble has also conducted and presented concerts with performers including The Beach Boys, Yvonne Kenny, David Hobson, Ben Folds, Dianne Reeves, Randy Newman, Teddy Tahu Rhodes [14] and Clive James. [15]

In 2014, Gillham was the winner of the 2014 Montreal International Musical Competition, which brought him to international attention. His outstanding performance of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4 was described in the Huffington Post as being played 'with such streamlined patrician elegance that he took home First Prize and a string of engagements...' The renowned British conductor Sir Mark Elder said Gillham 'plays Beethoven with a sort of ‘glow’'. In May 2015, Gillham signed a three-album deal with ABC Classics.
