Hailey Caitlin Rose Duff MBE (born 24 January 1997) is a Scottish curler [2] from Forfar. [3] She is the 2022 Olympic Champion in women's curling.

Contents

At the international level, she is a 2021 European champion, playing lead for skip Eve Muirhead.

At the national level, she is a Scottish women's championship champion (2024) and bronze medallist (2019), Scottish mixed doubles championship bronze medallist (2015), Scottish junior champion (2018) and silver medallist (2016, 2017).

Duff was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 2022 Birthday Honours for services to curling. [4]

Personal life

Hailey Duff was born and grew up in New Zealand. Some years later her family moved to Scotland.

She is from family of curlers. Her father John Duff is a long time curler, and was the runner-up at the 2020 Scottish Senior Championships, and is a bronze medallist with his daughter at the 2015 Scottish Mixed Doubles Championship. [10] ) [11]

Duff works as an assistant buyer at Garden Furniture Scotland [12] and is also studying sport and fitness at The Open University.

She graduated from the University of Stirling in 2019 with a degree in Business and Finance. [3]

Lauren Gray is a Scottish former curler from Stirling. As alternate for the Eve Muirhead rink, she won a gold medal at the 2013 World Championships for Scotland, and a bronze medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics for Great Britain. She became lead for Muirhead's team in 2016, and won a gold medal at the 2017 European Championships. In 2019, she was promoted to third on the team, but returned to playing lead in 2021. After a disappointing result in the 2021 World Championships, Gray was dropped from Eve Muirhead's team and replaced by Hailey Duff.

Agnes Ellinor Knochenhauer is a Swedish curler from Stockholm. She currently plays second on Team Anna Hasselborg. She also won a silver medal at the 2014 Games in Sochi as alternate for the Margaretha Sigfridsson rink.

Galina Petrovna Arsenkina is a retired Russian curler from Moscow. She competed at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics as the second on the Olympic Athletes from Russia and Russian Olympic Committee women's curling teams, skipped by Victoria Moiseeva and Alina Kovaleva respectively. She won two medals at the World Women's Curling Championship: a silver in 2021 and a bronze in 2018. She was also the second on Team Moiseeva when they won the 2016 European Curling Championships.

Thomas Brandon Muirhead is a retired Scottish curler from Blair Atholl. He was the longtime third for the Kyle Smith rink. During his career, he competed for Great Britain at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea, placing fifth. He also played for Scotland at two European Curling Championships, two Winter Universiade and three World Junior Curling Championships, winning the event in 2013. Muirhead's brother Glen and sister Eve are also British curlers, and their father Gordon is also a former professional curler.

Yulia Alexandrova Portunova is a Russian curler from Kaliningrad. She currently plays third on Team Alina Kovaleva. She competed at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics as the alternate on Olympic Athletes from Russia and the third on the Russian Olympic Committee women's curling teams, skipped by Victoria Moiseeva and Alina Kovaleva respectively. She has won two medals at the World Women's Curling Championship: a bronze in 2018 and silver in 2021. She was also the alternate for the Moiseeva rink when they won the 2016 European Curling Championships.

Jennifer Carmichael "Jenn" Dodds is a Scottish curler. She currently plays third on Team Rebecca Morrison and mixed doubles with Bruce Mouat, representing Scotland and Great Britain. She is the 2022 Olympic champion in women's curling and the 2021 World champion in mixed doubles curling.

Robert "Bobby" Lammie is a Scottish curler, originally from Stranraer, who now resides in Glasgow. He currently plays second on Team Bruce Mouat. With Mouat, Lammie has won gold at the world men's championship in 2023 and has captured four European championship titles and nine Grand Slam titles. He also earned a silver medal in the men's team event of the 2022 Winter Olympics and is a former World Mixed Doubles (2022), Winter Universiade (2017) and World Junior (2016) champion.

Melanie Barbezat is a Swiss retired curler from Zollikofen. From 2018 to 2022, she played lead for the Silvana Tirinzoni rink that won three consecutive World Women's Curling Championship titles in 2019, 2021 and 2022. The team also won the 2019 Champions Cup Grand Slam of Curling event, and competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics where they placed fourth.

Mili Smith is a retired Scottish curler from Perth. She was the alternate on the British team that won the gold medal at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Victoria Drummond, better known as Vicky Wright is a retired Scottish curler from Stranraer, and 2022 Olympic Champion in women's curling, playing third on Team Muirhead.

Bill Muirhead was a Scottish curler. He was a World Men's silver medallist, bronze medallist (1969) and three-time Scottish men's champion. His daughter Billie-May competed at the 1983 World Championship. His brother Thomas (Tom) Muirhead is the father of Gordon and grandfather of Glen, Eve, and Thomas Muirhead. Bill Muirhead previously coached David Smith in the 1980s. He died in Scone on 24 November 2021, at the age of 92.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Great Britain at the 2022 Winter Olympics</span> Sporting event delegation

Great Britain competed at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing, China, from 4 to 20 February 2022. The Great Britain team consists of 50 athletes. Eve Muirhead and Dave Ryding were the country's flagbearers during the opening ceremony. Meanwhile curler Bruce Mouat was the flagbearer during the closing ceremony.
