The Hanson ministry was the 4th ministry of the Government of South Australia, led by Premier Richard Hanson. It commenced on 30 September 1857 with the defeat of the Torrens ministry on the floor of the House of Assembly. Hanson's government was the longest lasting at this point, surviving until 9 May 1860, a total of 2 years, 222 days. It fell after losing a confidence vote, and was replaced by Thomas Reynolds' First ministry. [1]
Hanson's ministry was the first in South Australia to include a former Premier, Boyle Finniss.

The Government of New South Wales, also known as the NSW Government, is the governing body of New South Wales, Australia. The executive government comprises 11 portfolios, led by a ministerial department and supported by several agencies. There are also a number of independent agencies that fall under a portfolio but remain at arms-length for political reasons, such as the Independent Commission Against Corruption and Electoral Commission. The state Executive Council, consisting of the governor and senior ministers, exercises the executive authority through the relevant portfolio.
Sir Richard Davies Hanson, was the fourth premier of South Australia, from 30 September 1857 until 8 May 1860, and was a chief judge from 20 November 1861 until 4 March 1876 on the Supreme Court of South Australia.

It commenced on 9 May 1860, following Reynolds' defeat of the Hanson ministry on a confidence vote in the House of Assembly. The ministry was defeated in May 1861, but Reynolds' opponents were unable to form government, and he formed the reconstituted Second Reynolds ministry on 20 May 1861.

County of Hanson is a cadastral unit located in the Australian state of South Australia that covers land in the Flinders Ranges immediately east of the town of Hawker. It was proclaimed on 20 July 1877 and is named after Sir Richard Davies Hanson who served as Premier, Administrator and Chief Justice of South Australia. It has been partially divided in the following sub-units of hundreds – Adams, Arkaba, French, Moralana and Warcowie.
