NCF-Envirothon is an annual environmentally themed academic competition for high school aged students organized by the NCF-Envirothon a program of the National Conservation Foundation. The competition is held by the United States and Canada on a regional, state, and bi-national level. Envirothon combines in-class and hands-on environmental education in a competition setting which involves a problem-solving presentation as well as written field tests. The competition tests students on five core subjects- aquatic ecology, forestry, soils and land use, wildlife- along with a fifth annually-changing subtopic which focuses on relevant environmental issues. Currently, roughly 500,000 students from forty-five U.S. states and nine Canadian provinces/territories participate in the competition.

Maryland Route 147 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. Known as Harford Road, the state highway runs 18.82 miles (30.29 km) from U.S. Route 1 and US 40 Truck in Baltimore north to US 1 and US 1 Business in Benson. MD 147 is an alternate route to US 1 between Baltimore and Bel Air, the county seat of Harford County. The state highway is the main street of several neighborhoods in Northeast Baltimore and the Baltimore County suburbs of Parkville and Carney. MD 147 is maintained by the Maryland State Highway Administration in Baltimore and Harford counties and by the Baltimore City Department of Transportation within the city. Harford Road was a pair of turnpikes before the Baltimore–Carney portion of the highway was designated one of the original state roads. The Baltimore County section of MD 147 was constructed in the early 1910s and widened multiple times in the late 1920s and 1930s. The section of the state highway in Harford County was built in the late 1920s.

Maryland Route 23 is a state highway in the U.S. state of Maryland. The state highway runs 20.58 miles (33.12 km) from U.S. Route 1 in Hickory north and west to the Pennsylvania state line near Norrisville, where the highway continues as Pennsylvania Route 24. MD 23 is an L-shaped highway in northwestern Harford County that consists of two major sections. Between US 1 and MD 165 in Jarrettsville, MD 23 is marked east–west along a two-lane controlled access road named East–West Highway. From MD 165 to the state line, the state highway is marked north–south along Norrisville Road, a rural two-lane highway that passes through the villages of Madonna and Shawsville. The two sections of MD 23 are connected by a short concurrency with MD 165.
David R. Craig is a Republican Party politician from the State of Maryland who unsuccessfully sought the Republican nomination for Governor of Maryland in 2014. He was appointed, and sworn in as Harford County Executive on July 7, 2005. Craig was elected in 2006 and re-elected in 2010. Craig previously served in the Maryland State Senate in 1995–99 representing Harford County and in 1990-94 in the Maryland House of Delegates. He was also elected Mayor of Havre de Grace from 1985 to 1989 and 2001 to 2005. David was a teacher and assistant principal in the Harford County Public School System for thirty-four years.
Harford Community College is a public community college in Bel Air, Maryland. It was established as Harford Junior College in September 1957 with 116 students in the buildings and on the campus of the Bel Air High School in the county seat. The Bel Air campus of 1964 occupies 332 acres (1.34 km2) and now has 21 buildings totaling over 287,000 square feet (26,700 m2).
Susan McComas is a delegate representing District 34B in Harford County, MD. She was first elected in 2002, defeating Democratic challenger David E. Carey. This district was redrawn and previously represented Cecil County, MD. She held her seat in 2004 when she redefeated Carey.
Pamela Graboski Beidle is an American politician from Maryland and a member of the Democratic Party. She was elected in 2006, and reelected in 2010 and 2014 to the Maryland House of Delegates, representing Maryland's District 32 in Anne Arundel County. She currently serves on the Environmental Matters Committee. Prior to her election in the Maryland House of Delegates, she served two terms as a County Council Member for the 1st District of Anne Arundel County. She is also the President of Beidle Insurance Agency located in Glen Burnie, Maryland and Hanover, Maryland. Beidle also serves as a bank director with the Arundel Federal Savings Bank.

Glen Arm is an unincorporated community in Baltimore County, Maryland, United States. Glen Arm lies along what is now Glen Arm Road, which was once part of Old Harford Road, one of the early routes used for conveying agricultural products from parts of Harford and Baltimore Counties and southern Pennsylvania to the port of Baltimore. Glen Arm was also served until 1958 by the Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad. In 1921, at the railroad's crossing of Glen Arm Road, what generally is recognized as the nation's first train-actuated railroad crossing signal was installed by the railroad's Superintendent of Signals Charles Adler, Jr. Adler later designed early traffic-actuated traffic lights for the City of Baltimore, and also invented the system of flashing warning lights used on aircraft.
Winters Run is a 14.6-mile-long (23.5 km) river in Harford County, Maryland. The river begins north of the community of Fallston at the confluence of the West and East Branches, and flows southeast about 11 miles (18 km) to Atkisson Dam in Edgewood. The dam and reservoir were built by the U.S. Army in 1942 to provide an auxiliary fresh water source for nearby Edgewood Arsenal. Upon reaching the tidal line, the river is renamed Otter Point Creek, which empties to Bush River and the Chesapeake Bay. The watershed area of Winters Run is about 56 square miles (150 km2).
Edgewood High School (EHS) is a four-year public high school in Edgewood in Harford County, Maryland, United States. The school is located in the south park portion of the county near U.S. Route 40. It is home to the International Baccalaureate program for Harford County, as well as the Academy of Finance and the Teacher Academy of Maryland programs.
