The Harley-Davidson XG750R is a competition-only motorcycle made by Harley-Davidson for flat track racing. [1] It is powered by the fuel-injected, liquid-cooled Revolution X V-twin engine from the 2015 Harley-Davidson Street 750. It is the first all-new flat track racing motorcycle from Harley-Davidson in 44 years. [2]
It was first used in competition by Davis Fisher of the Harley-Davidson Screamin' Eagle Factory Team on April 9, 2016 in the GNC1 race at the AMA Pro Flat Track Circuit of the Americas Half-Mile. [3] The motorcycle was built by Vance & Hines, long known in motorcycle racing for their road racing and drag racing success. [4]
The XG has a number of changes from the older XR750, reflecting newer technology. [5]

The organization was founded in 1924 and as of October 2016 had more than 1,100 chartered clubs.
Buell Motorcycles is an American motorcycle manufacturer based in Grand Rapids, MI and was founded in 1983 by ex-Harley-Davidson engineer Erik Buell. Harley-Davidson acquired 49% of Buell in 1993, and Buell became a wholly owned subsidiary of Harley-Davidson by 2003. On November 17, 2006, Buell announced that it had produced and shipped its 100,000th motorcycle.
AMA Superbike Championship is an American motorcycle racing series that has been run every year beginning in 1976. For most of its existence it has been considered the premier motorcycle road racing series in the United States. It is sanctioned by the AMA American Motorcyclist Association since its inception, and the promotion of the series has been licensed to several organizations over the years. Since 2015 the series has been run and promoted by MotoAmerica, who also manage several other AMA professional road racing championships, including the popular 600cc Supersport class.

The Harley-Davidson Sportster is a line of motorcycles produced continuously since 1957 by Harley-Davidson. Sportster models are designated in Harley-Davidson's product code by beginning with "XL". In 1952, the predecessors to the Sportster, the Model K Sport and Sport Solo motorcycles, were introduced. These models K, KK, KH, and KHK of 1952 to 1956 had a sidevalve engine, whereas the later XL Sportster models use an overhead valve engine. The first Sportster in 1957 had many of the same details of the KH including the frame, fenders, large gas tank and front suspension.
Mert Lawwill is an American professional motorcycle racer, race team owner and mountain bike designer. He competed in the AMA Grand National Championship from 1962 to 1977. Lawwill is notable for winning the 1969 AMA Grand National Championship as a member of the Harley-Davidson factory racing team. After his motorcycle racing career, Lawwill became one of the top motorcycle racing frame designers and builders. Lawwill then used his experience as a motorcycle frame builder to become an innovative mountain bike designer, developing one of the first bicycle suspensions. He also developed prosthetic limbs for amputees. Lawwill was inducted in the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Motorcycle Hall of Fame in 1998.
Kenny Coolbeth is a flat track motorcycle racer from Warren Connecticut, United States. He won the 2006, 2007, and 2008 AMA Grand National Championship. He races the #2 Indian motorcycle. He attended Wamogo Regional High School.
The Harley-Davidson XR-750 is a racing motorcycle made by Harley-Davidson since 1970, primarily for dirt track racing, but also for road racing in the XRTT variant. The XR-750 was designed in response to a 1969 change in AMA Grand National Championship rules that leveled the playing field for makes other than Harley-Davidson, allowing Japanese and British motorcycles to outperform the previously dominant Harley-Davidson KR race bike. The XR-750 went on to win the most races in the history of American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) racing.

It was also used in road racing in the KRTT faired version. When the KR was first introduced, it dominated motorcycle racing in the United States. In 1970 it was replaced by the long-lived and US race-winning Harley-Davidson XR-750.

The Indian Scout FTR750 is a competition-only motorcycle engine made by Indian Motorcycle Manufacturing Company for flat track racing. It is a fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, four-valve-per-cylinder V-twin. A single-pin crankshaft riding on plain bearings carries side-by-side steel connecting rods. It is the first all-new flat track racing motor from Indian Motorcycle in decades.
