Hathin is a town and a Municipal Committee in Palwal district of Haryana in India.

Geography

It lies in NCR region, located 65 kilometres south of Delhi, 10 kilometres west from NH44 and 10 kilometres south from KMP (Western Peripheral Expressway) and the upcoming Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) and also 10 kilometres east from longest expressway in India (Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai Expressway).

History

Circa 150 BCE to 100 CE Shunga Empire or Kushan Empire era Hindu temple guard rail pillars were excavated from a filled well of Bhadas village and from Hathin. The pillars are exhibited in the Haryana State Museum.^[2]^[3]^[4] The railing pillars have images of Yaksha and three mortises carved on them. These pillars may have belonged to the same monument as the lens-shaped mortises because both have the same size, the color of the stone, distances between the three mortises carved on the pillars and yaksha carvings.^[5] The yaksha on the Bhadas pillar stands on protome of a Cloven hoofed animal, with the raised right hand (now-broken) holding a flower and the left hand on the hip holding up the drapery.^[5] Roundel on top of the pillar is a composite animal with protome of deer and hindquarters of makra superimposed over a lotus in bloom.^[5]

On 10 April 1919, Mahatma Gandhi was arrested at Palwal railway station, accused of sedition and jailed.

State transport Haryana buses connects the town to Palwal and with cities like Gurgaon, Faridabad, Delhi, Sohna and Chandigarh etc.

An updated Community Health Center provides health facilities.

A new Rest House is under construction.

On 27 May 2015, Haryana chief minister ML Khattar announced a budget of Rs 40 crore (400m) for a four-lane highway project from Palwal to Hathin and a bypass from Hathin to link NH-44. 5 crore to Hathin, 150 crore for improvement of irrigation facilities and improvement of existing government girls school buildings.

Demographics

The Hathin Municipal Committee has a population of 17,461 of which 10,089 are male and 7,372 are female according to Census India 2011.^{[ clarification needed ]} The population of children ranging from 0-6 is 2,731, which is 15.64% of the total population of Hathin (MC). The female ratio is on par with state average of 879. The child ratio is 820 against a state average of 834. The literacy rate is 71.97% against the state average of 75.55%.

Located 15 kilometres (9 mi) from Hathin, Palwal is the nearest railway station. The station has 10 platforms. It is one of the largest in India. Numerous trains connect Palwal to Delhi. Fast trains are available for longer distances. Women-only trains run between Palwal and Delhi.

Nearest Metro Station to Hathin is Raja Nahar Singh Ballabhgarh located 37 kilometres towards Faridabad.

Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) is an Indian state-owned power distribution utility company. It is owned by Government of Haryana and its headquarter is located in Hisar city of Haryana, India. It has two Operation Zones namely Hisar and Delhi. Each zone is headed by Chief Engineer. Both Zones have Operation circles namely Hisar, Sirsa, Fatehabad, Jind and Bhiwani in Hisar Zone and Gurugram-I, Gurgugram-II, Faridabad, Palwal, Rewari and Narnaul in Delhi Zone. Kushak is also called Bainsla village and the largest village in the Palwal district of the Haryana state in India. As of the 2011 census, the village had a population of 5487 people. The Delhi–Mumbai Expressway is a 1,350 km long, 8-lane wide under-construction access-controlled expressway connecting India's national capital New Delhi to its financial capital Mumbai. The foundation stone for the project was laid by union minister Nitin Gadkari in the presence of Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley on 8 March 2019. The total project value including the land acquisition cost is around ₹1,00,000 crores. An additional 31 km long spur will also be constructed by the NHAI from Noida International Airport in Jewar to Sector-65, Faridabad on this expressway.

Bhadas is a village, near Nuh city in Nuh District of Haryana state of India. It lies in the Mewat region of Delhi NCR and Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor. It is located on the MDR135 to Hathin-Palwal and is also adjacent to the Delhi Mumbai Expressway. It is 20 km from the Ferozepur Jhirka subdivision and 20 km from the Nuh city, district headquarter, 100 km far from national capital New Delhi and 355 km from state capital Chandigarh. It falls on the southern border of Haryana, near Alwar and Bharatpur Districts of Rajasthan. This lies in one of the most backward areas of the nation.

DND–Faridabad–KMP Expressway (NH-148NA) is an under-construction 59 km long, 6-lane wide access-controlled expressway in Delhi NCR, India. It will connect the junction of DND Flyway and Ring Road at Maharani Bagh in Delhi with KMP Expressway at Khalilpur, Nuh district in Haryana. Initially it was a separate expressway, but now it is a part of Delhi–Mumbai Expressway project. This expressway will have an additional 31 km long spur link from Sector-65, Faridabad bypass to Jewar Airport.

Mandkola is a village and Gram panchayat located in Hathin Tehsil of Palwal district, Haryana, India. The Village is situated 14km away from sub-district headquarter Hathin and 15km away from district headquarter Palwal.

Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC), with target completion by 31 March 2025, is an under construction twin-track 121.7-kilometre (75.6 mi)-km long, 160 km per hour high-speed, railway project in Haryana state of India, which will run around along the Western Peripheral Expressway (WPE) on the western side of Delhi.
