"Hayastan Jan" is a song by Armenian-German singer-songwriter Iveta Mukuchyan. It was released as a single on August 11, 2017, [1] however the music video was released earlier. "Hayastan Jan" was written by Armenian songwriter and TV host Avet Barseghyan and composed by Mukuchyan. [2] On 23 September 2017, Armenia 1 launched a new game show of the same name. [3] Hosted by the songwriter of the track, it had "Hayastan Jan" as its theme music. The song became popular among Armenian diaspora, especially in Lebanon, where it topped the top 10 list of Radio Sevan. [4] On 27 September 2018, the song won a "Song of the Year" award during the ceremony of the same name in Sochi, Russia.

On 21 June 2017, the song's title and the music video's release date was announced via a Facebook post by Mukuchyan. [5] Five day later the song premiered on the singer's YouTube channel. [6] [7] [8] [9]

Music video

The music video for "Hayastan Jan" was shot in an Armenian village, and features Mukuchyan celebrating her country with plenty of traditional sounds and colors. [10] It is the production of Karen Sevak. On June 21, 2017, a teaser of the video was uploaded on Mukuchyan's YouTube channel. The video for "Hayastan Jan" premiered on June 26, 2017. The video opens with two villagers driving through the countryside while listening to a snippet of "LoveWave" on the radio. [10]

Performances

Mukuchyan has performed the song on many occasions and house parties. She made the first televised performance of the track on the premiere day of Hayastan Jan series. In September 2017, she performed the song on another television program Post Factum airing on Armenia TV. The song was also performed at the KAMI Music Club on 1 May 2018 at Mukuchyan's concert. On Motherhood and Beauty Day, the singer was the special guest of the RIO Mall card presentation, where she performed her famous songs including this one. [11] During the 2018 Armenian protests, the song was played on both Prime Minister election days at the Republic Square, Yerevan. [12] The song was also performed during her collaborative concert with SONA and Ara Martirosyan at the Aram Khachaturian Grand Concert Hall on 31 May 2018. [13] On Europe Day in Armenia, the singer performed an open-air concert at Northern Avenue, Yerevan, where "Hayastan Jan" was also present. Mukuchyan also performed the song at "Song of the Year" awards in Sochi, Russia on 27 September 2018. [14]

Iveta Mukuchyan is an Armenian singer. Born in Yerevan, Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic, she moved to Hamburg, Germany, in 1992. Mukuchyan returned to Armenia in 2009 and placed fifth in the fourth season of the talent competition Hay Superstar. During this time, she received vocal training at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. Mukuchyan also participated for season two of The Voice of Germany in 2012.

Avet Barseghyan is an Armenian songwriter and TV host, who hosted the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Yerevan, Armenia, alongside Gohar Gasparyan.

Aram Avetiki Sargsyan, better known by his stage name Aram Mp3, is an Armenian singer and comedian. He represented Armenia in the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen with the song "Not Alone" and took the 4th place.

Armenia participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "LoveWave" written by Lilith Navasardyan, Levon Navasardyan, Iveta Mukuchyan and Stephanie Crutchfield. The Path of Our Dream is an Armenian drama. The film premiered in the Armenian theaters on December 19, 2017. The film consists of 7 parts. Each part has its own storyline and director. Some parts of the movie are shot in Turkey and France. Edgar Baghdasaryan's film titled The Path of Simon won the main prize at the European festival of short films. The Moscow premiere of the film was on 6 February 2018.

<i>Dashterov</i> (project)

Dashterov is a collaborative project by Armenian musicians Iveta Mukuchyan and Aram Sargsyan. Dashterov was awarded "Collaboration of the Year" at the Armenian Europe Music Awards. On 10 June 2017, the two artists presented their project at the Dalma Garden Mall. The project presents Armenian music in a modern version based on cultural values and historical roots. Dashterov introduces a mix of genres, highlighting Armenian folk and national music, presented in novel arrangements while reflecting their unique musical origin.
