Hayley Dee Westenra is a New Zealand classical crossover singer and songwriter. Her first internationally released album, Pure, reached number one on the UK classical charts in 2003 and has sold more than two million copies worldwide, making it one of the fastest selling albums in her country's history.
Pure is the first internationally released album by Christchurch, New Zealand soprano Hayley Westenra. It became the highest selling New Zealand Album, which Westenra was awarded by at the New Zealand Music Awards of 2004. It was published by the Decca Music Group label in 2003. It was distributed in the United States by Universal Classics in 2004. During its first week of sales it sold 19,068 copies. As of 2007, Pure is the best selling classical album for the 21st century in the UK, and in New Zealand remains the best selling album from a New Zealand artist.
Odyssey is the second internationally published album by Hayley Westenra. Her other previous albums, with the exception of Pure, were released only in New Zealand and Australia. It was published by the Decca Music Group label in 2005.
Michiya Haruhata is a Japanese musical composer, guitarist and music producer under Sony Music Entertainment. He is member of band Tube, began his solo actions around that same time. Since 1992 he has been composing songs for few Being Inc. artist such as Mai Kuraki and Zard. Michiya was given his own Signature Model Stratocaster from Fender in 2002., His song "Jaguar '08" was named the 31st best guitar instrumental by Young Guitar Magazine in 2019.

The album celebrates Westenra's Irish roots by covering Irish songs like "Danny Boy" and religious classics like "Whispering Hope", "The Heart Worships", while also including three new songs which Hayley has co-written.
"Wadsyaname" was supposed to be the first official single from Nelly's fifth studio album, Brass Knuckles but Nelly later confirmed that the single will not make the album. It was replaced by "Party People". It is produced by Tha Bizness, and sampled the piano line from "All My Life" by K-Ci & JoJo. The single was released to the iTunes Store on August 22, 2007. Nelly performed the single along with "Let It Go" at the 2007 BET Hip Hop Awards. The song finally appears on the album, as a UK and Japanese bonus track.
