Helen Adjoa Ntoso (born February 1958) is a Ghanaian politician and a member of the Parliament of Ghana for the Krachi West constituency in the Volta Region of Ghana. [1] She is a member of the National Democratic Congress. [2] Hon Ntoso is a former Regional Minister for the Volta and Eastern Regions in the NDC government of President Mahama. [3]
Ntoso is from Kete Krachi which was located in the Volta Region until December 2018 when new regions were created. It is now in the Oti Region. [2] She completed her post-secondary education at St Francis Training College. She has an Advanced Diploma in Education from Lambeth College in London. She also holds a Master of Arts in Conflict Peace and Security from Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre. [2]
She was a Senior Child Care taker at Elizabeth Hamwod Nursery School from 2005 to 2007. She was a Missionary for Bright Church Army from 2003 to 2005. [2] She was also the Director of Operations at NADMO 2009 to 2012. [2]
Ntoso won the Krachi West seat in the 2012 Ghanaian general election. She retained her seat in the 2016,2020 and 2024 elections. [4] She was appointed Volta Regional Minister by President John Mahama in 2013. She was made the Eastern Regional Minister in a cabinet reshuffle in March 2013. [5] She was the Volta Regional Minister in 2015. [6] In July 2014,she was redesignated as Volta Regional Minister,a position she held until the end of the Mahama NDC government on 6 January 2017.
Helen Ntoso won an award for Regional Minister of the Year 2015,organized by West African International Magazine. [7]
Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin is a Ghanaian politician who is the current Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana. He was the Minister for Health in the Ghana government from January 2012 until February 2013. The Oti Region is one of the six newly created regions of Ghana in December 2018. The region was carved out of the Volta Region and will be in fulfillment of a campaign promise made by New Patriotic Party. Prior to the 2016 Ghanaian general election,the then candidate Nana Akufo-Addo declared that when elected,he would explore the possibility of creating new regions out of some of the existing regions in Ghana in order to bring government closer to citizens. The Region was inaugurated on May 14,2019. It has Dambai as its Regional Capital. The people of Oti region have for more than 60 years always wanted to have a region of their own before its creation in 2018 by the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo led government in December 2018.

The presidency of John Mahama began on 24 July 2012 and ended on 7 January 2017. John became the 4th President of the Ghanaian Fourth Republic after he succeeded John Atta Mills who died in office on 24 July 2012. Prior to that,he served as Vice-President of Ghana from January 2009 to July 2012.
