Tegenaria Genus of spiders

Tegenaria is a genus of fast-running funnel weavers that occupy much of the Northern Hemisphere except for Japan and Indonesia. It was first described by Pierre André Latreille in 1804, though many of its species have been moved elsewhere. The majority of these were moved to Eratigena, including the giant house spider and the hobo spider.

Zodarion Genus of spiders

Zodarion is a genus of ant-eating spiders from the family Zodariidae. 169 species from Eurasia, North Africa and North America have been described as of November 2022.

Malthonica is a genus of funnel weavers first described by Eugène Simon in 1898. Many of its species were transferred to Aterigena and Tegenaria in 2010.

Amaurobius Genus of spiders

Amaurobius is a genus of tangled nest spiders that was first described by Carl Ludwig Koch in 1837.

Uapou is a monotypic genus of South Pacific sheet weaver spiders containing the single species, Uapou maculata. It was first described by Lucien Berland in 1935, and is found on Ua Pou, one of the Marquesas Islands. It was transferred to the family Symphytognathidae by H. W. Levi in 1972, but this was rejected by Brignoli in 1980. The World Spider Catalog places it in the family Linyphiidae.

Harpactea Genus of spiders

Harpactea is a genus of woodlouse hunting spiders that was first described by W. S. Bristowe in 1939. They are non-web building predators that forage on the ground and on tree trunks at night, mainly in xerothermic forests. During the day, they hide in silk retreats they build under rocks or bark.

Histopona Genus of spiders

Histopona is a genus of funnel weavers first described as a sub-genus of Hadites by Tamerlan Thorell in 1870. It was elevated to genus by Brignoli in 1972.

Hoplopholcus Genus of spiders

Hoplopholcus is a genus of cellar spiders that was first described by Władysław Kulczyński in 1908.

Lepthyphantes Genus of spiders

Lepthyphantes is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by Anton Menge in 1866.

Eratigena Genus of spiders

Eratigena is a genus of spider in the family Agelenidae. Most of its species were moved from the genus Tegenaria in 2013, which is what the genus name is an anagram of. Two species that frequently build webs in and around human dwellings are now placed in this genus: the hobo spider, native to Europe and Central Asia and introduced to North America, and the giant house spider, native to Europe and also introduced into North America.

Aterigena is a genus of funnel weavers first described by A. Bolzern, A. Hänggi & D. Burckhardt in 2010. The name is an anagram of Tegenaria. It was created in 2010 for a group of Tegenaria and Malthonica species that formed a clade in a phylogenetic analysis. The genus was later found to be monophyletic, further separating Eratigena from Tegenaria and Malthonica.

Hahnia (spider) Genus of spiders

Hahnia is a genus of dwarf sheet spiders that was first described by C. L. Koch in 1841.

Stalagtia is a genus of woodlouse hunting spiders that was first described by J. Kratochvíl in 1970.

Neocryphoeca is a genus of North American araneomorph spiders in the family Cybaeidae, and was first described by V. D. Roth in 1970. As of May 2019 it contains only two species, both found in the United States: N. beattyi and N. gertschi. Originally placed with the funnel weavers, it was moved to the Cybaeidae in 1983.

Cataleptoneta is a genus of leptonetids that was first described by J. Denis in 1955.

Araeoncus Genus of spiders

Araeoncus is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by Eugène Louis Simon in 1884. They closely resemble members of Diplocephalus; both genera have a uniquely shaped of the cephalothorax and a species-specific modification of the tibial apophysis of the pedipalp.

Palliduphantes Genus of spiders

Palliduphantes is a genus of dwarf spiders that was first described by Michael I. Saaristo & A. V. Tanasevitch in 2001.

Persiscape is a genus of funnel weavers first described by Alireza Zamani and Yuri M. Marusik in 2020.

Kut (spider) Genus of spiders

Kut is a genus of Middle Eastern woodlouse hunting spiders. The type species was first described by Paolo Brignoli from a male found in Turkey, and it was placed with Harpactocrates. In a 1988 study, Christa L. Deeleman-Reinhold expressed doubt of the holotype's placement, but it wasn't transferred to its own genus until 2019. Two other species were identified, all with the same distinctive pedipalp features, including a pear-shaped tegulum with an otherwise featureless embolus. As of April 2022 it contains only three species: K. dimensis, K. izmiricus, and K. troglophilus.
