High Country Sound is the second studio album by American country music artist Canaan Smith. [2] [3] The album was released on April 2, 2021 through Round Here Records and was the debut release of the indie label in association with AWAL. [4] [5] Smith co-wrote and produced every track on the album. [6] [7]
Smith released his debut album Bronco in 2015 on Mercury Nashville, who he split with after saying he felt "lost in the mix" of the major label environment. In 2019, he signed as the flagship artist to Round Here Records, an indie label founded by Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley of Florida Georgia Line, who Smith knew from his college days at Belmont University. He said the duo supported him and allowed him "100% freedom" when working on his new music, with no pressure to chase radio airplay. He remarked that he was "digging deep and reaching inside kind of thing to find that sound that best reflects me and not just a sound that we think is cool or is going to work or going to compete". [8] Smith called the album "a flag in the ground for who I am and what I stand for". [4]

Parker Yancey McCollum is an American country singer-songwriter based in Texas. The owner of PYM Music, he released his first single and EP in 2013; his debut album, The Limestone Kid, was released on February 24, 2015. The Austin Chronicle gave the release 3.5/5 stars, writing that "it's too early to declare The Limestone Kid debut of the year, but it's already one to beat", and comparing McCollum's music to Charlie Robison's. McCollum and his backing band announced a 2015 tour of Texas in support of the album, performing at events such as RedGorilla Music Fest. McCollum released the EP Probably Wrong: Session One on July 7, 2017, and followed it with Probably Wrong: Session Two on September 8, 2017. The full Probably Wrong album was released on November 10, 2017. His major-label debut album, Gold Chain Cowboy, was released July 30, 2021.
Kane Allen Brown is an American country music singer and songwriter. First garnering a mass following on social media, he released his debut extended play (EP) Closer in June 2015, and followed it up with the single, "Used to Love You Sober" in October of that year. After Brown signed with RCA Nashville in early 2016, the song was included on his second EP and major label debut, Chapter 1 in March 2016. He released his eponymous debut studio album later that year in December. The album spawned the single "What Ifs", and in October 2017, Brown became the first artist to have simultaneous number ones on all five main Billboard country charts. Morgan Cole Wallen is an American country singer. He competed in the sixth season of The Voice, originally as a member of Usher's team, but later as a member of Adam Levine's team. After being eliminated in the playoffs of that season, he signed to Panacea Records, releasing his debut EP, Stand Alone, in 2015.
