The Karnaphuli River, is the largest and most important river in Chittagong and the Chittagong Hill Tracts. It is a 667-metre (2,188 ft) wide river in the south-eastern part of Bangladesh. Originating from the Saithah village of Mamit district in Mizoram, India, it flows 270 kilometres (170 mi) southwest through Chattogram Hill Tracts and Chattogram into the Bay of Bengal. Before the Padma, it was the fastest flowing river in Bangladesh. It is said to "represent the drainage system of the whole south-western part of Mizoram." The Rupnarayan is a river in India. It begins as the Dhaleswari (Dhalkisor) in the Chhota Nagpur plateau foothills northeast of the town of Purulia. It then follows a tortuous southeasterly course past the town of Bankura, where it is known as the Dwarakeswar river. Near the town of Ghatal it is joined by the Shilabati river, where it takes the name Rupnarayan. Finally, it joins the Hoogli River. It is famous for the Hilsa fish that thrives in it and is used in Bengali cuisine. It is also notable for the West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited (WBPDCL) thermal power plant built along its bank at Kolaghat in West Bengal. Barabigha is a small village in Nalanda district of Bihar. It is situated about 10 km north-east of Hilsa. Lohanda-Ramghat state highway connects this village by road. The nearest railway stations are Lohanda and Hilsa. Its post office is at Bhobhi. The nearby villages include Bhobhi,sakrorha, Raghunathpur, Bhurkur, Dariyapur etc. Barabigha comes under Hilsa block. Hilsa is one of the four sub-divisions of Nalanda district of Bihar. Most of the residents of the village are farmers.
