HipTV is a Nigerian basic cable television channel owned by Ayo Animashaun. [1] [2] The channel is the sole channel with broadcasting rights to The Headies. Headquartered in Ikeja, Lagos State, HipTV's features are centred majorly on entertainment ranging from latest music videos, entertainment news and lifestyle. [3]

History

HipTV was launched in July 2007 by Ayo Animashaun as a broadcast platform for Hip Hop World Magazine but has since risen to become a music and entertainment channel.

On November 5, 2013, HipTV was launched on Multichoice's DSTV as a 24-hour channel with a target audience from over 40 countries in Africa. [4] [5]

"Fall in Love" is a song by Nigerian singer and harmonica player D'banj. It serves as a single from his third studio album, The Entertainer (2008), and was produced by Don Jazzy. According to Africa Review, it earned D'banj national stardom in Nigeria. "Fall in Love" was nominated for Song of the Year at The Headies 2009. The music video for the song won Most Gifted Afro Pop Video at the 2010 Channel O Music Video Awards. Moreover, it was also nominated in the Best Male Music Video of the Year category at the 2010 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

"Skelewu" is a song by Nigerian singer Davido. It was produced by Shizzi, HKN Music's in-house producer, and peaked at number one on Afribiz's Top 100 chart. It gained popularity in Nigeria after Davido announced the Skelewu dance competition, and was endorsed by African footballers Emmanuel Adebayor and Samuel Eto'o.

The 2014 Nigeria Entertainment Awards took place on 31 August 2014, at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts in New York City. The eligibility period was from March 2013 to March 2014. In April 2014, the NEA reviewing committee began collecting submissions for the 2014 edition. The deadline for submission was April 30, 2014, and the nominations were announced on May 29, 2014. Tiwa Savage and Davido received the most nominations with 5 each. Don Jazzy, Flavour N'abania and Wizkid all got four nominations each, while Olamide, Patoranking, Chidinma and Oritse Femi followed closely with three nominations.

Ayo is the self-titled second studio album by Nigerian singer Wizkid. It was released on 17 September 2014, by Starboy Entertainment and Empire Mates Entertainment. Ayo was postponed twice due to difficulty in track selection. Preceding its release were the singles "Jaiye Jaiye", "On Top Your Matter", "One Question", "Joy", "Bombay" and "Show You the Money". The album also contains the song "Ojuelegba", which won Song of the Year and was nominated for Best Pop Single at The Headies 2015. Wizkid enlisted Sarz, Shizzi, Uhuru, Del B, Dokta Frabz, Maleek Berry, Legendury Beatz and Spellz to produce the album. Ayo features collaborations with Femi Kuti, Seyi Shay, Yemi Sax, Akon, Banky W., Phyno, Tyga and Wale. It received mixed reviews from music critics; some commended its production, song arrangement and sound quality, while others panned its lyrics.

<i>Shuga Naija</i> Season of television series

The third season of the television drama series Shuga, dubbed Shuga Naija, was first broadcast on MTV Base from December 2013 to January 2014. The season was written by Kemi Adesoye and directed by Biyi Bandele. It starred Tiwa Savage, Chris Attoh, Maria Okanrende, Emmanuel Ikubese, Sharon Ezeamaka, Efa Iwara, Dorcas Shola Fapson, Okezie Morro, Timini Egbuson, Kachi Nnochiri, Sanni Mu'azu and Leonora Okine. Shuga Naija is a multimedia campaign which educates youths on HIV, safe sex and teen pregnancy. It also touches on maternal and child health, family planning, gender-based violence, and women empowerment. The television series, which consists of eight episodes, was shot and set in Lagos State, produced in partnership with the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA).

In 2012, he produced the single "Shake" by Flavour N'abania, which received critical acclaim among music critics.

Spice TV is Africa's first dedicated English-language specialty channel for fashion, owned by Consolidated Media Associates. The channel broadcasts both local and international programming related to fashion, modeling, photography, beauty, luxury, and lifestyle on DStv channel 190. Before launch as a 24-hours television channel on Multichoice multi-channel digital satellite TV service, it was syndicated on free-to-air TV channel OnTV Nigeria and still runs select programming blocks every day on OnTV Nigeria and ONMAX.
