History

The construction of the mosque began in 2001, following a land donation from the government to a local Islamic community. [1] The building construction started in 2004 and was completed in 2007, [2] and was the first mosque established in the country. [1] Much of the mosque funding came from Malaysia and Saudi Arabia. [3] In 2018, Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad visited the mosque after attending the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference. [1]
