Hold On Pain Ends is the fourth studio album by American metalcore band The Color Morale. It was released on September 2, 2014 through Fearless Records, and was produced by Mike Green and Courtney Ballard. This marks the band's first album on this label following their departure from Rise Records.
The album title was revealed along with the band's announcement of switching record labels, from Rise to Fearless Records, in April. The band were also featured on the fifteenth installment of the Punk Goes... series, Punk Goes 90s Vol. 2 which featured their cover of "Everlong" by Foo Fighters that same month. [1] Further details, track list, album artwork, and release date, were announced on July 2, 2014. The track list revealed that there would be two featuring guest artists; Dave Stephens of We Came as Romans and Craig Owens of Chiodos and was produced by Mike Green. [2]
Lead vocalist Garret Rapp explained to Alternative Press of the album's lyrical theme, stating that it discusses issues such as; self-harm and sabotage, suicide, addictions, eating disorders, abandonment along with other related topics shared with him by fans, going on to say that the record itself was made for the listener as a means of telling a story of inner beauty ignored by false belief. In April, Alternative Press announced the nominees for their first Alternative Press Music Awards (APMAs). [4] The band released their first song off the album on June 23, two months after the initial announcements of their label switch, their new album, and their APMA nomination. The song, titled "Outer Demons", was released along with a promotional lyric video. [5] Pre-orders of the album were made available on the day the album was announced on July 2. [3] On July 16, the band released their second single "Suicide;Stigma" which features guest vocals Dave Stephens of We Came as Romans. [6] On August 11, the band released their third single "Damnaged", the opening track to the album. [7]

The album was met with generally positive reviews, most citing the lyrical content, and Rapp's vocals. At Metacritic, which assigns a normalised rating out of 100 to reviews from mainstream critics, the album has an average score of 74 out of 100 based on 4 reviews, indicating "generally favorable reviews". [8] A reviewer for AbsolutePunk wrote: "... Rapp's vocal delivery is compelling on nearly every chorus, particularly "Damnaged" and "Developing Negative". I'd say this is one of the largest reasons why I keep coming back to this record over and over again." [12]
AllMusic gave the album a positive review saying, "The usual glitchy electronic elements weave throughout the album's ten songs and there is a strong pop element in many of the arrangements. While Hold on Pain Ends is generally well played and well produced, little new ground has been broken and by and large it comes across as a fairly standard, mainstream pop-oriented metalcore record." [9] Zach Redrup from Dead Press! rated the album positively calling it: "Unapologetic in its message, this is a record which manages to portray its over-arching sentiment without diluting the strident musicality and fist-pumping dramatics. It all falls together to make a formidable impression, and whether it's the poignancy or the distinctive punch that's taken away, Hold On Pain Ends is an intensely thrilling piece of work." [10] Another reviewer for Under the Gun praised the collaboration between the band and Craig Owens of Chiodos and saying: "...most memorable mic grab comes from Chiodos' Craig Owens on 'Developing Negative' a track that also highlights the integration of guitarists Aaron Saunders and Devin King, who have come into their own on this release." [13]
The album debuted at No. 28 on Billboard 200, [14] selling around 8,000 copies in the first week. It has sold 19,000 copies in the United States as of July 2016. [15]

Chiodos was an American post-hardcore band from Davison, Michigan. Formed in 2001, the group was originally known as “The Light-hearted Carpet Knights” before changing their name to "The Chiodos Bros," the band's name was a tribute to filmmakers Stephen, Charles, and Edward Chiodo, responsible for the film Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Chiodos released their first full-length album, titled All's Well That Ends Well, on July 26, 2005. Their second album, Bone Palace Ballet, was released in North America on September 4, 2007 and debuted at number 5 on the Billboard 200 and number 1 on the Independent Albums. Warner Bros. Records released Bone Palace Ballet on January 26, 2009, as part of a new distribution deal in the UK. They released their third studio album, Illuminaudio in 2010, and it was the only studio album to feature Brandon Bolmer as lead vocalist and Tanner Wayne as drummer. The band released their fourth and final album, Devil on April 1, 2014, which marked the return of original vocalist Craig Owens and drummer Derrick Frost.
Fearless Records is an American independent record label that was founded in 1994. Fearless is based in Culver City, California, and is best known for its early pop punk moments captured in the Fearless Flush Sampler and Punk Bites releases, as well as additional releases by bands such as Bigwig and Dynamite Boy; and later Sugarcult; Plain White T's; The Aquabats; Amely; and post-hardcore releases by At the Drive-In and Anatomy of a Ghost. However, the label has experimented with different styles in recent years. Acts such as Blessthefall, The Word Alive, Ice Nine Kills, Mayday Parade, Pierce The Veil, Starset, The Pretty Reckless, Underoath and The Color Morale have showcased post-hardcore, metalcore, hard rock and alternative rock bands that have emerged in recent years. Fearless Records' releases were distributed in the US by RED Distribution, but after Concord Music Group's purchase of the label in 2015, it is now distributed by Universal Music Group worldwide.
Mayday Parade is an American rock band from Tallahassee, Florida. Formed in 2005, the band was a result of a merger between two local Tallahassee bands, Kid Named Chicago and Defining Moment. Their debut EP Tales Told by Dead Friends, was released in 2006, and sold over 50,000 copies without any label support. In July 2007, Mayday Parade released their debut album A Lesson in Romantics. Having been signed to Fearless Records since 2006, the band also signed onto a major label with Atlantic Records in 2009. Their second studio album, Anywhere but Here was released in October 2009 and their third album, entitled Mayday Parade, was released in October 2011. Mayday Parade's fourth album, titled Monsters in the Closet, was released in October 2013. Their fifth album, titled Black Lines, was released October 2015. In April 2018, the band signed to Rise Records and released their sixth studio album Sunnyland on June 15, 2018. Their seventh studio album, What It Means To Fall Apart, was released in November 2021.
Pierce the Veil is an American rock band formed in San Diego, California, in 2006. Founded by brothers Vic and Mike Fuentes after the disbanding of Before Today, which formed out of the San Diego punk rock scene. Other band members include Jaime Preciado (bass) and Tony Perry.

William Control is an American music project founded in 2008 in Seattle, Washington. It was the side project of Aiden's William Francis before Aiden's hiatus, and he later operated as William Control full-time. 'William Control' therefore refers to both the band as a whole and to Francis as his stage name. Francis was signed to Victory Records before starting his own independent label, Control Records, and, as William Control, has released five full-length albums, an EP, two acoustic albums, two live DVDs and a remix album (Remix). The first part of Revelations, The Pale, was released on October 14, 2016. The second EP The Black followed on February 17, 2017, and the third, entitled The Red, followed that with a release date of July 14 of the same year. The album was completed by The White on November 24.

The Color Morale is an American metalcore band from Rockford, Illinois, formed in 2007. The band includes vocalist/keyboardist Garret Rapp, guitarists Devin King and Aaron Saunders, bassist Mike Honson, and drummer Steve Carey. Rapp and Carey are the only two members of the original line-up that remain in the band. The group was signed to Fearless Records before they went into a hiatus in 2018. The band officially returned in March 2020. Before the hiatus, the band has released five studio albums: We All Have Demons, My Devil in Your Eyes, Know Hope, Hold On Pain Ends, and Desolate Divine.
Motionless in White is an American metalcore band. The discography of the group consists of six full-length albums, two EPs and one demo album. The group is known to combine the metalcore musical style with industrial and gothic influences. The band recorded their demo in 2005 as a four-piece band, and released their debut EP, The Whorror under small independent label, Masquerade Recordings in 2007 when the group achieved a six-member line-up.
Issues is an American metalcore band based in Atlanta, Georgia, founded in 2012. The band currently consists of guitarist and vocalist AJ Rebollo, bassist and vocalist Skyler Acord, and drummer Josh Manuel. They are known for their combination of metalcore, nu metal, pop and contemporary R&B.
Savages is the fourth studio album by electronic band Breathe Carolina released on April 15, 2014 through Fearless Records in the United States. Upon the album's release, it debuted at No. 22 on the US Billboard 200, No. 4 on the Alternative Albums chart, and topped the Dance/Electronic Albums chart, selling 14,000 copies in its first week. The album spawned six single; "Savages", "Bang It Out" featuring pop duo Karmin, "Sellouts" featuring Danny Worsnop of the metalcore band Asking Alexandria, "Chasing Hearts" featuring Tyler Carter of metalcore group Issues, "Collide" and "I Don't Know What I'm Doing". The album features a more electronic and dance influence rather than the electronic rock and post-hardcore influences seen on the group's previous albums. This is the first album released without former member Kyle Even.
