Hong Kong is a special administrative region of China. With 7.4 million residents of various nationalities in a 1,104-square-kilometre (426 sq mi) territory, Hong Kong is the fourth most densely populated region in the world.
The economy of Hong Kong is a highly developed free-market economy. It is characterised by low taxation, almost free port trade and a well-established international financial market. The Hong Kong Polytechnic University is a public research university in Hung Hom, Kowloon, Hong Kong. The university is one of the eight government-funded degree-granting tertiary institutions in Hong Kong. Founded in 1937 as the first Government Trade School, it is the first institution to provide technical education in Hong Kong. In 1994, the Legislative Council of Hong Kong passed a bill which granted the former Hong Kong Polytechnic official university status.
La Salle College is a boys' secondary school located in Kowloon City District, Hong Kong. It was established in 1932 by the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, a Catholic religious teaching order founded by St John Baptist de La Salle. Regarded as one of Hong Kong's more prestigious institutions, the school often produces top-scorers in public examinations. The school uses English as the medium of instruction.
The Hong Kong Marathon, sponsored by Standard Chartered Bank, is an annual marathon race held in January or February in Hong Kong. In addition to the full marathon, a 10 km run and a half marathon are also held. Around 70,000 runners take part each year across all events.
International Trail Running Association (ITRA) is the governing body for trail running. It was formed in 2013, emerging from the 1st International Trail Running Conference held in 2012. Trail running was first recognised by the International Association of Athletics Federations in 2015 as a discipline of athletics. ITRA has, among other things, developed a points system for ranking the difficulty of specific trail routes and tracking the performance of runners across races.

Hong Kong competed at the 2020 Summer Paralympics in Tokyo, Japan, from 24 August to 5 September 2021. These were the last games contested by Hong Kong under the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee and Sports Association for the Physically Disabled umbrella, before the organisation separated into two independent entities namely the Hong Kong Paralympic Committee and Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled on 1 April 2022.
The 2022 World Athletics U20 Championships, also known colloquially by its former official title, the World Junior Championships, was an international athletics competition for athletes qualifying as juniors, which was held from 1 to 6 August 2022 at the Estadio Olímpico Pascual Guerrero in Cali, Colombia. Cali previously hosted the 2015 World Youth Championships in Athletics.
