The Howrah Indoor Stadium is a multi-purpose indoor stadium located at Dumurjala, Howrah, West Bengal, India. It is the only indoor stadium in Howrah district, designed as a venue for indoor sports, cultural events and other programs.
In the 1980s the stadium was made on the margin of Dumurjala, a neighborhood of Santragachi, Shibpur and Ramrajatala, by Howrah Improvement Trust. Based on the line of Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata, it was originally planned for indoor sports activities. After the construction, only two state-level indoor matches were organized. Then defects in the construction of the galleries and floor came to the forefront. After that Howrah Municipal Corporation took the stadium and started using it for commercial needs. [1]
In 2018, West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) planned Dumurjala Sports City. A meeting was held in Howrah among state Urban Development minister Firhad Hakim, Mayor Rathin Chakraborty and Debashis Sen, chairman, HIDCO, along with senior officials of HMC at HIDCO. [3] The meeting stated Dumurjala Stadium to be rebuilt and more developed to meet the state level. [4]

Kolkata Metro Line 2, also known as the East-West Metro and Green Line, is a rapid transit line of the Kolkata Metro in the Indian state of West Bengal. It currently consists of an operational section between Salt Lake and Sealdah, and will eventually connect Howrah by going underneath the Hooghly River, with an eastern extension also planned for Teghoria. In the deepest metro shaft, Howrah metro station will be the deepest metro station in India, which will be 33 meters deep.The first phase between Salt Lake Sector V and Salt Lake Stadium was inaugurated by Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on 13 February 2020 and commercial services started from 14 February 2020.

Dumurjala Sports City is a planned sports complex of 56 acres in Dumurjala, Howrah, West Bengal, India. The complex consists of an indoor stadium with 6000-seating capacity; outdoor grounds for football, cricket, and hockey; a swimming pool; an outdoor gym; and a public park. The complex also has two helipads.
