Bidhannagar, or Salt Lake City, is a posh planned satellite city located in the Indian state of West Bengal, and a satellite township of Kolkata. It falls in Greater Kolkata region and currently falls under the administration of the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation. Keeping with its original name, it is commonly referred to as Salt Lake City, and was planned and developed between 1958 and 1965 to accommodate the burgeoning population of Kolkata.

It is a project developed by the HIDCO and houses an exhibition of Tagore’s paintings, archives, a research centre, an auditorium. and dormitories for students opting to conduct their research on Tagore. It was inaugurated by Mamata Banerjee, Chief Minister of West Bengal on 8 August 2012.
Eco Park is an urban park in New Town, Greater Kolkata, India. The park is situated on a 480 acres (190 ha) plot and is surrounded by a 104 acres (42 ha) waterbody with an island in the middle. The park was conceptualised by Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee in July 2011. West Bengal Housing Infrastructure Development Corporation (HIDCO) is the overarching body coordinating the construction of the park, along with different other government bodies responsible for implementation of different works inside the park.
Nazrul Tirtha is a cultural and educational center dedicated to the rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. The center is situated in Action Area - I of New Town, Kolkata. It is only 2.50 kilometers away from Rabindra Tirtha. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the center on 24 May 2014 to mark the occasion of the 115th birth anniversary of the poet.

Kolkata Metro Line 6 or the Orange Line of the Kolkata Metro is an under-construction rapid transit line that will connect New Garia with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport via two satellite towns Salt Lake and New Town. The line is targeted to open from Kavi Subhash to Hemanta Mukhopadhyay in 2023. This stretch will be one of the most important stretches of the metro because it will connect the southern and the eastern parts of the city with Kolkata Airport. Total distance of this route will be 29.87 km (18.56 mi).
