Humayun Kabir (born 3 April 1961) is an Indian politician and former police officer from West Bengal,who is serving as member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Debra constituency since 2021. A member of Trinamool Congress,he has also served as cabinet minister of state under Third Banerjee ministry,from 2021 to 2022. [2]
Kabir born on 3 April 1961 to Arsed Ali and Jinatun Begum. [3] He is a native of Debara village located in Paschim Medinipur district in West Bengal. He earned his Ph.D. in Botany from Kalyani University in 1991.
Kabir joined IPS through West Bengal State Police Service in 2003. His first posting was in DSP in North 24 Parganas. At that time,Hatkata Dilip,a renowned criminal who is reportedly close to several CPI-M leaders,was apprehended by Kabir. He was demoted by Jyoti Basu administration as punishment. [4]
During 2014 elections,he was sent to Murshidabad as Police Superintendent. He was alleged to have connections of supporting Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury,the member of parliament. So,he was sent to compulsory weighting again. [4]
In 2019,he was transferred to Chandernagore as Commissioner of Police. In 2021,few months before state election,he arrested some BJP workers for raising the incendiary and provocative slogans at a rally. He resigned from his service after that. [5]
Kabir joined Trinamool Congress in February 2021 at a party rally in Kalna in the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. [3] He received ticket of contesting from his native town Debra. He won the seat on 2 May 2021. He was appointed as cabinet minister of state (independent charge) on 10 May 2021. [6] He was removed from the cabinet on the next year on 3 August. [7]
The All India Trinamool Congress is an Indian political party that is mainly influential in the state of West Bengal. It was founded by Mamata Banerjee on 1 January 1998 as a breakaway faction from the Indian National Congress and rapidly rose to prominence in the politics of West Bengal under her leadership. Mukul Roy is an Indian politician from West Bengal belonging to the All India Trinamool Congress. He is the son of Sisir Adhikari,Member of Parliament and former Union Minister of State for Rural Development in the Manmohan Singh government.
Sovan Chatterjee is an Indian politician. He is a former member of Indian National Congress,All India Trinamool Congress,and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He served as the Mayor of the city of Kolkata,the capital of the Indian state of West Bengal. Chatterjee served as a Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) councilor since 1985. In 2019,he joined Bharatiya Janata Party,and left in 2021.

Partha Chatterjee is an Indian politician. He earlier served as the Minister of Commerce and Industries and formerly served as the Education Minister of Government of West Bengal. He represented the Trinamool Congress. He also held the political office of Secretary General of the All India Trinamool Congress. In 2022,he was suspended indefinitely from the party following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate.
Subrata Mukherjee was an Indian politician who was cabinet minister of the government of West Bengal and sitting member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly. He was a member of All India Trinamool Congress. He was also the 35th Mayor of Kolkata from 2000 to 2005.
