The Hungry Range, or Hungry Mountain, is a low, elongated mountain in Washoe County, Nevada, United States. [1] The mountain separates Hungry Valley on the east from Antelope Valley on the west.
The term "United States," when used in the geographic sense, refers to the contiguous United States, Alaska, Hawaii, the five insular territories of Puerto Rico, Northern Mariana Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and minor outlying possessions. The United States shares land borders with Canada and Mexico and maritime borders with Russia, Cuba, the Bahamas, and many other countries, mainly in the Caribbeanin addition to Canada and Mexico. The Flathead River, in the northwestern part of the U.S. state of Montana, originates in the Canadian Rockies to the north of Glacier National Park and flows southwest into Flathead Lake, then after a journey of 158 miles (254 km), empties into the Clark Fork. The river is part of the Columbia River drainage basin, as the Clark Fork is a tributary of the Pend Oreille River, a Columbia River tributary. With a drainage basin extending over 8,795 square miles (22,780 km2) and an average discharge of 11,380 cubic feet per second (322 m3/s), the Flathead is the largest tributary of the Clark Fork and constitutes over half of its flow.
The Dead Mountains are a mountain range in the southeastern Mojave Desert, in San Bernardino County, California. The range borders the tri-state intersection of Nevada, Arizona and California, and the Mohave Valley, with the Fort Mojave Indian Reservation bordering the range foothills on the east and northeast, in the three states.
The Sheep Hole Mountains are a mountain range in the Mojave Desert, to the north of Joshua Tree National Park, in San Bernardino County, California. The mountains were once Chemehuevi hunting grounds.
The Big Maria Mountains are located in the southeastern part of the U.S. state of California, near the Colorado River and Arizona. The South Fork Flathead River is a major river in Northwestern Montana in the northwest United States. It is one of the three main forks of the Flathead River, a tributary of the Clark Fork River. The north-northwest trending river is about 98 miles (158 km) long, making it the second longest tributary of the Flathead River.
The Swan Range is a mountain range in western Montana in the United States. Its peaks typically rise to around 8,000 to 9,000 feet. The range is bounded by the South Fork Flathead River to the east, the Flathead River to the north and northwest, the Swan River to the west, and lie to the southwest of Glacier National Park, just south of the Canada–US border. It runs about 99 miles (159 km) from north-northwest to south-southeast. Major cities near the Swan Range include Kalispell and Bigfork to the northwest, and Seeley Lake on the south.
The Centennial Mountains are the southernmost sub-range of the Bitterroot Range in the U.S. states of Idaho and Montana. The Centennial Mountains include the Western and Eastern Centennial Mountains. The range extends east from Monida Pass along the Continental Divide to Henrys Fork 48 km (30 mi) NNW of Ashton, Idaho; bounded on the west by Beaver Creek, on the north by Centennial Valley and Henrys Lake Mountains, on the east by Henrys Lake Flat, and on the south by Shotgun Valley and the Snake River Plain. The highest peak in the range is Mount Jefferson.
The Granite Wash Mountains are a short, arid, low elevation mountain range of western-central Arizona, in the southeast of La Paz County. The range borders a slightly larger range southeast, the Little Harquahala Mountains; both ranges form a section on the same water divide between two desert washes. The washes flow in opposite directions, one northwest to the Colorado River, the other southeast to the Gila River.
Hungry Valley is a valley located along the northern border of Los Angeles and Ventura counties, about 2 mi (3.2 km) southwest of Gorman, California. The valley is notable for being a popular destination for off-road vehicle enthusiasts across California.
Great Northern Mountain is a prominent 8,705-foot-elevation (2,653-meter) mountain summit located in Flathead County in the U.S. state of Montana. It is situated in the Flathead National Forest, in the Flathead Range, west of the Continental Divide. Great Northern Mountain is the highest point in the Great Bear Wilderness, and the nearest higher peak is Mount Saint Nicholas, 10.56 miles to the east-northeast in Glacier National Park. Topographic relief is significant as the west aspect rises 5,100 feet above Hungry Horse Reservoir in four miles, and the east aspect rises the same in five miles above the Middle Fork Flathead Valley. The Great Northern Railway is the namesake of the mountain, and the mountain is the namesake of the Great Northern Brewing Company.
Mount Grant is an 8,590-foot-elevation (2,618 meter) mountain summit located in Flathead County in the U.S. state of Montana.
