Pop-punk is a rock music fusion genre that combines elements of punk rock with power pop or pop. It is defined by its fast-paced,energetic tempos,and emphasis on classic pop songcraft,as well as adolescent and anti-suburbia themes. It is distinguished from other punk-variant genres by drawing more heavily from 1960s bands such as the Beatles,the Kinks,and the Beach Boys. The genre has evolved throughout its history,absorbing elements from new wave,college rock,ska,rap,emo,boy band pop and even hardcore punk. It is sometimes considered interchangeable with power pop and skate punk.
Simple Plan is a Canadian rock band from Montreal,Quebec. Formed in 1999,the band's current lineup consists of Pierre Bouvier,Chuck Comeau (drums),Jeff Stinco,and Sébastien Lefebvre. David Desrosiers joined the band in early 2000 and left in July 2020 due to sexual misconduct accusations.
Skate punk is a skater subculture and punk rock subgenre that developed in the 1980s. Originally a form of hardcore punk that had been closely associated with skate culture,skate punk evolved into a more melodic genre of punk rock in the 1990s similar to pop punk. Since then,it has predominately featured fast tempos,lead guitar playing,fast drumming,and singing. Occasionally,skate punk also combines the fast tempos of hardcore punk and melodic hardcore with the catchy hooks of pop-punk.
No Pads,No Helmets...Just Balls is the debut studio album by Canadian rock band Simple Plan. Formed by members of Reset,Simple Plan spent over a year recording their first album with producer Arnold Lanni. It debuted at number 4 on the Canadian Albums Chart,earning the band their fourth consecutive top-5 and a perfect streak of top-10s for their first five studio albums. It is the band's final album release as a quintet,as bassist David Desrosiers left Simple Plan in July 2020 due to sexual misconduct allegations. It is also the band's last album released through Atlantic,as the band fulfilled their contract to the label with this album.
Story Untold is a Canadian rock band based in Laval,Quebec. Founded in 2012,the band signed with Hopeless Records in May 2016. Shortly after signing,they recorded their self-titled EP,then went on tour with Simple Plan and Hit the Lights. Story Untold current line-up included vocalist and main songwriter Janick Thibault and drummer Jonathan Landry. In December 2019,the band left Hopeless Records and now remain as an independent group.
Lauren Mandel,known by her stage name LØLØ,is a Canadian singer-songwriter. Having built an audience via TikTok,she has released three EPs,two with Hopeless Records. Her sound is influenced by pop punk and alternative rock.
