ICFAI University, Nagaland, formerly known by its full name Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University (Nagaland), is a private university located in Sovima, Nagaland, India. [2] The university was established in 2006 under the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India University, (Nagaland) Act 2006 [3] and renamed in 2015 under the ICFAI University, Nagaland (Amendment) Act, 2014. [4]

C.P. Alexander was the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of the university from 2016 until his death in 2019. [5] Arun Kumar Varma was appointed VC in April 2021. [1]

The Institute of Financial Analysts of India (IFAI) was established in 1984 as a non-profit educational society in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is also the home of Maulana Azad National Urdu University as well as Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Open University.

Higher education system in India includes both private and public universities. Public universities are supported by the Government of India and the state governments, while private universities are mostly supported by various bodies and societies. Universities in India are recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), which draws its power from the University Grants Commission Act, 1956. In addition, 15 Professional Councils are established, controlling different aspects of accreditation and coordination. Private universities in India are regulated under the UGC Regulations, 2003. Per the UGC act and these regulations, private universities are established by an act of a local legislative assembly and listed by the UGC in the Gazette upon receiving the act. As confirmed by ruling of the Supreme Court of India, recognition by the UGC is required for the university to operate. Kandathil Mathew Abraham is a retired Indian IAS officer who is currently serving as Chief Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister of Kerala He also serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) and Executive Vice Chairperson of Kerala Development and Innovation Strategic Council. He retired as the Chief Secretary of Kerala in December 2017. He belongs to the 1982 batch of IAS. He was instrumental in bringing out the Sahara Group Scam when he was a member of Securities and Exchange Board of India.
