IUBMB Life is a peer-reviewed scientific journal of developmental biology that was established in 1999. It is one of four official journals of the IUBMB. The journal is published monthly by John Wiley & Sons.
According to the Journal Citation Reports , the journal has a 2020 impact factor of 3.885, ranking it 147th out of 297 journals in the category "Biochemistry and Molecular Biology" [1] and 121st out of 195 journals in the category "Cell Biology". [1]
IUBMB Life is the flagship journal of the International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and is devoted to the rapid publication of the most novel and significant original research articles, reviews, and hypotheses in the broadly defined fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and molecular medicine. The journal publishes interdisciplinary, basic to translational research and covers all fields in the life science at every level of organization:
Research communications are original research articles that present new findings of unusually high importance, which provide major new functional insights in biology. Critical Reviews are short, concise, and sharply focused reviews of current hot topics in the biological sciences. Critical Reviews and Hypotheses Papers make new specialized areas highly accessible to all scientists and develop novel insights and approaches for future research. Articles that integrate several biological disciplines, or successfully relate basic biology to human pathology or medicine, are especially encouraged.
Biochemists are scientists who are trained in biochemistry. They study chemical processes and chemical transformations in living organisms. Biochemists study DNA, proteins and cell parts. The word "biochemist" is a portmanteau of "biological chemist."
The International Union of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (IUBMB) is an international non-governmental organisation concerned with biochemistry and molecular biology. Formed in 1955 as the International Union of Biochemistry (IUB), the union has presently 79 member countries and regions (as of 2020). The Union is devoted to promoting research and education in biochemistry and molecular biology throughout the world and gives particular attention to areas where the subject is still in its early development
Cell is a peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing research papers across a broad range of disciplines within the life sciences. Areas covered include molecular biology, cell biology, systems biology, stem cells, developmental biology, genetics and genomics, proteomics, cancer research, immunology, neuroscience, structural biology, microbiology, virology, physiology, biophysics, and computational biology. The journal was established in 1974 by Benjamin Lewin and is published twice monthly by Cell Press, an imprint of Elsevier.
Nature Chemical Biology is a monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal published by Nature Portfolio. It was established in June 2005 by founding Chief Editor Terry L. Sheppard as part of Nature Publishing Group. Sheppard was the Chief Editor of the journal 2004–2022. The current editor-in-chief is Russell Johnson.
Nature Medicine is a monthly peer-reviewed medical journal published by Nature Portfolio covering all aspects of medicine. It was established in 1995. The journal seeks to publish research papers that "demonstrate novel insight into disease processes, with direct evidence of the physiological relevance of the results". As with other Nature journals, there is no external editorial board, with editorial decisions being made by an in-house team, although peer review by external expert referees forms a part of the review process. The editor-in-chief is João Monteiro.
The Journal of Molecular Recognition is a monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing original research papers and reviews describing molecular recognition phenomena in biology. The current editor-in-chief is Marc H. V. van Regenmortel. It was established in 1988 and is published by John Wiley & Sons.
The School of Biological Sciences is a School within the Faculty Biology, Medicine and Health at The University of Manchester. Biology at University of Manchester and its precursor institutions has gone through a number of reorganizations, the latest of which was the change from a Faculty of Life Sciences to the current School.
Nature Structural & Molecular Biology is a monthly peer-reviewed scientific journal publishing research articles, reviews, news, and commentaries in structural and molecular biology, with an emphasis on papers that further a "functional and mechanistic understanding of how molecular components in a biological process work together".
The Journal of Receptors and Signal Transduction is a peer-reviewed scientific journal that publishes laboratory and clinical studies, reviews, and brief communications on biological receptors and associated signal transduction pathways for ligands involved in the regulation of central and peripheral tissues and cells. It is published by Informa. The editors in chief are Alex N. Eberle and Terrence Kenakin.
Journal of Biological Inorganic Chemistry is a peer-reviewed scientific journal. It is an official publication of the Society of Biological Inorganic Chemistry and published by Springer Science+Business Media.
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics is a biweekly peer-reviewed scientific journal that covers research on all aspects of biochemistry and biophysics. It is published by Elsevier and as of 2012, the editors-in-chief are Paul Fitzpatrick, Helmut Sies, Jian-Ping Jin, and Henry Jay Forman.
Biological Chemistry is a peer-reviewed scientific journal focusing on biological chemistry. The journal is published by Walter de Gruyter and the current editor-in-chief is Bernhard Brüne.
Journal of Cellular and Molecular Medicine is a bi-monthly, peer-reviewed, scientific journal published by Wiley-Blackwell in association with the Foundation for Cellular and Molecular Medicine. The journal focuses on translational medicine, spanning disease-oriented basic research in molecular and cellular biology and pre-clinical investigations into molecular and cellular therapeutics. JCMM publishes both reviews and original research.
Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry is a monthly, peer-reviewed, scientific journal published by the Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology and Agrochemistry, of which it is the official journal. It was established in 1924 as Bulletin of the Agricultural Chemical Society of Japan, which was renamed to Agriculture and Biological Chemistry in 1961. The journal took its current name in 1991.
