Mikhail Igoravich Stefanovich is a [Belarusian professional ice hockey player currently playing for Shakhter Soligorsk of the Belarusian Extraliga (BXL). He was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fourth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, and was the 2nd overall pick in the 2009 KHL Junior Draft. He played 60 games in the Kontinental Hockey League with Dinamo Minsk between 2010 and 2020. Internationally Stefanovich has played for the Belarusian national team at five World Championships.

Belarus has played in the top division eight times, first in 1999 and most recently in 2018, with their best finish being ninth overall in both 2001 and 2002. The most recent tournament, the 2019 tournament, had Belarus finished second in Division I, the second tier, and twelfth overall.

Raman Andreevich Hrabarenka, also known as Roman Andreyevich Graborenko (Russian: Роман Андреевич Гpaбoрэнкo, is a Belarusian professional ice hockey defenceman who is currently playing for Cracovia Kraków in the Polska Hokej Liga, the top league in Poland. He most recently played for HC Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk of the Kontinental Hockey League. He previously played within the New Jersey Devils organization of the National Hockey League, and appeared in one game for them in 2015. Hrabarenka played major junior hockey with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and Drummondville Voltigeurs of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, before signing as a professional with the Albany Devils of the American Hockey League and the top minor-league affiliate for New Jersey, in 2012. He signed with New Jersey in 2013 and continued to play for Albany. Once his contract ended in 2016 he signed with HC Dinamo Minsk for one season before joining Nefekhimik and Kunlun. Internationally Hrabarenka has represented Belarus, and has played in several World Championships.
HC Kremenchuk is an ice hockey team based in Kremenchuk, Ukraine, playing in the Ukrainian Hockey Extra League that was formed prior to the 2016–17 season. The club was founded in 2010 and initially competed in Ukrainian amateur championships before joining the Belarusian Vysshaya Liga for 2013–14 season. After finishing the regular 2013–14 season Kremenchuk was forced to withdraw from the league prior to the playoffs due to the political situation in Ukraine. The team then joined the Ukrainian Championship for the 2014–15 season, winning the regular season and finishing as runners-up in the playoffs. Kremenchuk has also qualified for the IIHF Continental Cup on one occasion.
The 2022 IIHF World Championship was hosted by Finland from 13 to 29 May 2022, as the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) announced on 19 May 2017 in Cologne, Germany. The host cities of the World Championships were Tampere and Helsinki, of which Tampere's brand-new Nokia Arena served as the main venue of the games.

The 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship was the 47th edition of the World Junior Ice Hockey Championship, held between December 26, 2022 and January 5, 2023. It was won by Canada, in overtime of the gold-medal game. Czechia won the silver, their first medal since 2005.
