Ice hockey in Indonesia is a minor but growing sport. Ice hockey was first played in Indonesia in 1996 [1] when the country's second indoor rink, the Sky Rink, [2] opened at the Mall Taman Anggrek [3] in Jakarta. The country's first ice rink, the Plaza Senayan, [4] had been built in the 1980s. Two more rinks have recently opened, the Gardenice Rink [5] (800 square meters) in Bandung and the BX Rink [6] (24-by-55-meters) at the Bintaro Jaya Xchange Mall [7] in Tangsel. The Indonesia Ice Hockey Federation known in Indonesian as the Federasi Hoki Es Indonesia (FHEI) was founded in 2012 and it joined the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) as an associate member on May 20, 2016. According to the 2020 Census, the city population was 1,354,350 inhabitants, while the official estimate as at mid 2023 was 1,404,785 - comprising 700,754 males and 704,031 females. The total area is 164.85 km2 (63.65 sq mi). It is the second-largest city in Banten in terms of population, and has grown rapidly, not only as Jakarta's satellite city, but also the development of business districts and commerce due to presence of large-scale planned town by private developers.

There are a number of indoor ice rinks in African countries that are used for ice hockey. Enthusiasts have formed national teams in several countries and an inaugural African Nations Cup of Ice Hockey was planned for 2009. The first African Nations Cup of Ice Hockey was planned for South Africa between 19–26 September 2009. The matches of the championship were to be played at the ice rink of "Festival Shopping Centre" in Kempton Park. The competing countries were to be South Africa, Morocco and Algeria. However, the tournament was postponed due to lack of response from the invited countries and never played.

Central Park in Jakarta, Indonesia is a large development complex including a hotel, shopping mall, an office tower, and three apartment buildings covering an area of about 655,000 m2 (7,050,000 sq ft) located in the district of Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta developed by the Agung Podomoro Group and part of Podomoro City. Central Park is currently the 19th largest building in the world based on floor area.

The Hungarian Ice Hockey Hall of Fame, which honours players, coaches, referees and other individuals who have made important contributions to the sport of hockey in Hungary, was founded and the first members were inducted on 16 April 2011. The awards were given by International Ice Hockey Federation president René Fasel one day prior to the beginning of the 2011 IIHF World Championship Division I, that was held in Budapest, Hungary. A total of 22 prizes were handed over, divided between eleven living legends and as many former stars, who have been deceased and were honoured posthumously.

The Philippines national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of the Philippines. They are controlled by the Federation of Ice Hockey League (FIHL) and a member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) since May 20, 2016. Prior to that period, a national team has played in regional tournaments in Hong Kong since the 2000s.

Indonesia competed in the 2017 Asian Winter Games in Sapporo and Obihiro, Japan from 19 to 26 February, supported by Indonesian Olympic Committee & IWSC Indonesia. The country competed in two sports. The Indonesian team consisted of 34 athletes. This was the first time Indonesia take part at the Asian Winter Games.

The Indonesian national ice hockey team is the national men's ice hockey team of Indonesia and has been an associate member of the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). Indonesia is currently ranked 58th in the IIHF World Ranking and has not qualified to any Olympic Games, but played in two World Championships tournaments.

The 2017 IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia was the 10th edition of the IIHF Challenge Cup of Asia, an annual international ice hockey tournament held by the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF). It took place from 17 to 23 March 2017 at the ice skating rink of the CentralPlaza Grand Rama IX shopping mall in Bangkok, Thailand. Five nations participated, though a sixth, Kyrgyzstan, was supposed to but cancelled. The United Arab Emirates won the tournament, their third time doing so.

Bintaro Jaya is a planned township located in Greater Jakarta, Indonesia. It is developed by PT Jaya Real Property Tbk. The development of the township began within South Jakarta in 1979 and is expanded further to South Tangerang in Banten province. The township is built as a satellite city for Jakarta, with a total land area of about 1000 hectares. The name Bintaro is derived from the Bintaro Village, which also takes the name of Bintaro plant, whereas Jaya came from the name of the developer. Bintaro Jaya along with Bumi Serpong Damai (BSD) is one of the largest township in Indonesia.

Semanggi Interchange or commonly known as Semanggi Bridge is a major road interchange in Jakarta, Indonesia which consists of a cloverleaf interchange —the first, and until the 1990s the only, of its kind in Indonesia—and a partial turbine interchange. Two main roads of the city Gatot Subroto Road and Sudirman Road intersect at this interchange. Initially completed in 1962 as part of several projects intended to be completed before the 1962 Asian Games, the interchange is a landmark and an important part of the Golden Triangle of Jakarta.
