Ie Meulee is a village (kelurahan) in Sukajaya sub-district, Sabang, Aceh, Indonesia. Ie Meulee in Acehnese means 'Tapak Gajah' which comes from the discovery of an inscription with elephant treads in this village. [1] This gampong is the northernmost settlement in the territory of Indonesia, with the population, most of whom work as fishermen. [2] This village has several tourist attractions, namely Sumur Tiga Beach which has clear water. [3] [4] and Tapak Gajah Beach, which has historical heritage in the form of a Japanese fort. [1]

Weh Island

Trans-Sumatra Toll Road

Trans-Sumatra Toll Road is an under-construction tolled expressway stretching across Sumatra Island in Indonesia from the northern tip of Banda Aceh to the southern tip of Bakauheni. This toll road was originally planned to be connected to the established toll road systems of Java through the now cancelled Sunda Strait Bridge. Construction of this toll road is continued with supporting corridors connecting the cities of Padang, Bengkulu, and Sibolga on the western coast of the island to the main corridors stretching across the more populated eastern coast. State construction company Hutama Karya has been given a government-granted monopoly to operate the network.

2018 Sunda Strait tsunami Tsunami in coastal regions of Banten and Lampung, Indonesia

On 22 December 2018, a tsunami that followed an eruption and partial collapse of the Anak Krakatau volcano in the Sunda Strait struck several coastal regions of Banten in Java and Lampung in Sumatra, Indonesia. At least 426 people were killed and 14,059 were injured. The tsunami was caused by an undersea landslide that followed an eruption of Anak Krakatau, the "Child of Krakatoa". On 23 December, it was found that much of the island of Anak Krakatau had collapsed into the sea.
