The remix of the song, titled "In the Stars (Galaxy Mix)", was released for digital download and streaming on 3 September 2013 through TEN, Big Beat, and Atlantic as the promotional single.

"Birthday" is a song recorded by American singer Selena Gomez for her solo debut studio album Stars Dance (2013). It was written and produced by Mike Del Rio, with additional writing by Crista Russo and Jacob Kasher Hindlin. Matt Beckley also provided additional vocal production for the song. Musically, "Birthday" combines deep electronic dance beats and police sirens with elements of trap music. The song's instrumentation is created by blending purring, synthesized bass, snappy beats, handclaps, "oxygen-sucking" sub-bass, and trap snares with sexual moans and elements of hip hop music. Sparse drum beats and vocal chants are woven throughout the song's composition, which has been described by critics as club-ready electropunk, with trap and dubstep elements. The song was originally announced as a single, but was never officially released from the album.

Icona Pop is the second studio album and debut international album by Swedish synth-pop duo Icona Pop, released on 24 September 2013 by Swedish independent record label TEN Music Group and Atlantic Records subsidiary Big Beat Records in the US. "Girlfriend" was released on 4 June 2013 as the first single, followed by "All Night" on 23 July 2013. The album also includes the hit single "I Love It" which was also included on the band's Swedish-only self-titled debut album Icona Pop. On 16 September 2013, the album was made available to stream in full on the Pitchfork website. The album debuted at no. 36 on the Billboard 200 and fell to no. 136 in its second week.

Fransisca Hall, sometimes credited as Fran Hall, is a songwriter signed to Sony/ATV Music Publishing whose credits include: Kelly Clarkson, Britney Spears, Major Lazer, Selena Gomez, Icona Pop, Fitz and the Tantrums, Cheryl Cole, Eden xo, and Jasmine Thompson to name a few.
