Awarding the album four and a half stars from HM Magazine , David Stagg states, "Having written almost every note on the album, In the Taking of Flesh is somewhat of a masterpiece." [1] Aaron Lambert, giving the album four and a half stars at Jesus Freak Hideout, writes, "no matter what you believe spiritually, In The Taking of Flesh is an absolutely superb metal album that will end up among the best of the year." [2]

Beanbag was an Australian Christian Alternative Metal band which formed in 1995 in Brisbane and broke up in late 2002. The group consisted of Phillip "Hirvy" Hirvela on bass guitar, Michael Mullins on lead guitar, Hans "Hunz" Van Vliet on lead vocals, and Phil Usher on drums. The band now consists of lead vocalist and guitarist, Elisha Mullins, lead guitarist, Todd Hatfield, drummer, Kaleb Luebchow, and bass guitarist, Alex Poole. The band released one EP, Age of Deceit, in 2009 with Sancrosanct Records. They signed with Strike First Records, where they released, The Winepress, a studio album, in 2010. Their second album, Lights and Perfections, released by Facedown Records in 2012. The subsequent album released by Facedown Records, In the Taking of Flesh, was released in 2013.
