The Asian Games, also known as Asiad, is a continental multi-sport event held every four years for athletes of Asia. The Games were regulated by Asian Games Federation from the first Games in New Delhi, India in 1951, until the 1978 Games. Since the 1982 Games, they have been organized by the Olympic Council of Asia, after the breakup of the Asian Games Federation. The Games are recognized by the International Olympic Committee and are the second largest multi-sport event after the Olympic Games.
Pilavullakandi Thekkeparambil Usha is an Indian sports administrator and retired track and field athlete. Usha was born in Koothali near Perambra in Kozhikode district, Kerala. She grew up in Payyoli. Usha has been associated with Indian athletics since 1979. She has won 4 gold medals and 7 silver medals in the Asian Games. She is often associated as the "Queen of Indian track and field".

Hakam Singh was an Indian athlete who won the gold medal at the 1978 Asian Games in 20 kilometre race walk. He also won a gold in the Asian Track and Field Meeting held at Tokyo in 1979. He is a recipient of the Dhyan Chand Award.

Ham Heung-chul was a South Korean football player and manager. While playing for the South Korea national football team, Ham won two titles in the AFC Asian Cup and three silver medals in the Asian Games. He also participated in the 1964 Summer Olympics, but conceded 20 goals during three Olympic matches. After retirement, Ham managed South Korea national team, winning the 1978 Asian Games. He also managed Hallelujah FC, and became the first manager to win the K League title.
