To Akola–Ratlam line

The Gwalior Indore Manmad line is a railway route on the Western Railway, West Central Railway & North Central Railway section of Indian Railways. CRS inspection of RE work of Maksi Ruthiyai and Guna Gwalior has been done in Jul 2020. Now this route is fully electrified from Indore, Dewas, Maksi, Shajapur, Biyavra Rajgarh (BRRG), Ruthiyai, Guna, Shivpuri and Gwalior. This Gwalior, Guna, Ruthiyai, Maksi, Dewas, Indore Single Electrified Rail Line will be a connecting rail line for Indore Manmad Rail Line Project [1] (under Central Railway, Bhusawal Division) and will boost the economical development in Malwa Region of Madhya Pradesh. The Indore Manmad Railway Line project covers 6 Districts in 2 States i.e., Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh will increase the existing network of Indian Railways by about 309 Kms.

With this project 30 New Stations will be constructed, providing enhancing connectivity to Aspirational District Barwani. New Line project will provide connectivity to approx. 1,000 villages and about 30 Lakh population.

Project will promote tourism in the region by providing shorter route between Western/ South-Western part of the country with Central India. This will increase the tourist footfall to various tourist/ religious places of Ujjain – Indore region including Sri Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple. [2]

This corridor has consisted of rivers and plateaus. The route of this line is via Guna, Ruthiyai, Maksi & Dewas to Indore with bypassing Kunu Valley.

History

Main line & branches

Mainline of Indore–Gwalior Corridor Consists of length with 516 kilometres (321 mi). This line has four(4) branches along side the main route. The first branch line is double electrified line from Bina Junction to Guna Junction with the Length of 118.80 kilometres (73.82 mi). [5] The second branch line is double electrified line from Ruthiyai Junction to Kota Junction with the length of 164.2 kilometres (102.0 mi). [6] The third branch line is the double electrified line from Bhopal Junction to Nagda Junction with the length of 240 kilometres (150 mi). [7] The fourth branch line is the double electrified line from Ujjain Junction to Dewas Junction with the length of 41.3 kilometres (25.7 mi).

Projects

There is a construction of the new line from Ramganj Mandi Junction to Bhopal Junction via Jhalawar, Aklera, Biyavra Rajgarh, Parbatigarh, Sant Hirdaramnagar which situates on Mainline of Indore–Gwalior corridor with the length of 333 kilometres (207 mi) which is a boom for reducing traffic for Nagda–Maksi–Bhopal line and Kota–Bina line for transportation to Southern states and eastern states of India. [8] Doubling of the Indore-Gwalior Line is going on now after electrification was completed in 2021. Currently Indore to Dewas & Ruthiyayi to Guna is double line with Dewas-Maksi, Maksi-Shajapur, & Guna-Gwalior sections being made double line. The Ujjain-Agar line is set to be revived with 110 kilometres (68 mi) long extension to Jhalawar City.

Rail transport in Madhya Pradesh began in the year 1867 when Allahabad–Jabalpur branch line was opened in June 1867. The Etarsi to Jabalpur section was opened on 7 March 1870 by GIPR, linking up with EIR track at Jabalpur from Allahabad, and establishing connectivity between Mumbai and Kolkata. In 1903, with the introduction of Delhi-Chennai rail route through the state and Bhopal Junction railway station, the state got a good rail connectivity. Presently major portion of the state's rail connectivity is provided by the railway zone called West Central Railway.

The Ruthiyai-Maksi section of the West Central Railway Zone is a fully operational public transit system in the state of Madhya Pradesh. It connects Ruthiyai Jn with Maksi Jn. The section forms a part of the Indore-Gwalior line which connects two important cities, Indore & Gwalior with each other.
