The Infiniti Essence is a concept sports car designed by Infiniti to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the Infiniti brand. [1] The vehicle was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show. [2] [3] The car is a hybrid electric vehicle and is among the first energy-efficient cars Infiniti has released. [4]
The vehicle was designed by Infiniti design director Takashi Nakajima. [5] Its external appearance is a modern interpretation of "coke bottle styling", a feature that was very popular during the 1960s and 1970s internationally. The interior design was initially conceived (Paul Ray) in the Nissan Design Europe studio based in Paddington, London. Following the interior concept being chosen it was then further developed and built in Japan.
The Essence concept is not expected to enter production, but elements from the car were planned to be incorporated into later Infiniti models. [6]
It included a 3.7 L V6 gasoline engine with twin turbochargers rated 440 PS (324 kW; 434 hp), an electric motor (called 3D Motor) rated 160 PS (118 kW; 158 hp) and 500 N⋅m (369 lb⋅ft), with a combined rating of 600 PS (441 kW; 592 hp). [1]
The electric motor was powered by lithium-ion battery at lower trunk area. [1]
A three-piece Louis Vuitton luggage set fits in the trunk, and the floor slides out when the trunk is open to access the luggage. [6] [7]
The Infiniti Essence also contains safety features to prevent collisions in the back and side that are known as Side Collision Prevention (SCP) and Back-up Collision Prevention (BCP). [1] Sensors on the sides and back warn the driver when it senses a vehicle, and brakes are activated if the warning is ignored. [1]
Infiniti is the luxury vehicle division of the Japanese automaker Nissan, marketing having begun on November 8, 1989, in North America. The marketing network for Infiniti vehicles included dealers in over 50 countries in the 2010s. As of 2020, there were 25 markets served by new car dealers, primarily North America, China, Taiwan, and the Middle East.

The Infiniti QX70, formerly called the Infiniti FX until 2013, is a compact luxury crossover SUV produced by the Nissan-owned Infiniti luxury vehicle brand between 2002 and 2019. The FX replaced the QX4 as Infiniti's mid-size SUV. It shares the same FM platform as the rear-wheel drive Nissan 370Z, and it "made no claims of climbing mountains." Rather, its aggressive shape promised style and quick handling. The similarly sized Nissan Murano is based on the same D platform as the front-wheel drive Nissan Altima. The FX does not have a Nissan-branded equivalent and is not sold in Japan.

R231 is a chassis code for the sixth generation of the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class roadster, replacing the R230. The car was released in March 2012 and uses Mercedes-Benz's new 4.7 litre twin turbo V8 engine with a power output of 435 PS. AMG version of the roadster will follow. The new SL is 140 kg (309 lb) lighter than the previous, being made almost entirely out of aluminium. For the first time, the R231 SL-Class was not available with a non-AMG V12 engined SL 600 model.

The Mitsubishi Concept PX-MiEV is a prototype plug-in hybrid crossover utility vehicle, first exhibited at the Tokyo Motor Show in September 2009. It uses an 85 kW 1.6-litre gasoline engine as a powerplant and generator for two 30 kW electric motors, one on each axle. Mitsubishi claims it to be capable of up to 50 kilometres per litre under optimal driving conditions.
The Ford Focus (third generation), also known as the Focus Mk III, (Code name: C346) debuted at the 2010 North American International Auto Show as a 2012 model. The cars shown were a 4-door sedan and 5-door hatchback, also debuting a new 2.0-litre direct injection I4 engine. A 5-door estate (wagon) was previewed at the Geneva Motor Show a month later.

The Infiniti LE is a concept car developed by the Infiniti division of Nissan Motors and was revealed to the public at the 2012 New York Auto Show. The LE names comes from Luxury first and Electric second. An Infiniti spokesperson said the vehicle shown is a "production intent" concept and will be on the market in 2014. In May 2013 the company said that it was waiting for inductive charging industry standards before launching the vehicle.
The Infiniti Q50 is a compact executive car manufactured by Nissan for its luxury brand, Infiniti. Replacing the G/Q40 sedan, it debuted at the 2013 North American International Auto Show and went on sale in North America in the third quarter 2013 and in Europe in fourth quarter 2013. It is the export model of the Japanese domestic market's V37 Nissan Skyline.
The Infiniti Q60 is a 2-door luxury sport GT coupe manufactured by Japanese automaker Infiniti. It is the successor to the Infiniti G coupe and convertible. The Q60 nameplate was first used as a rebranding of Infiniti G coupes. A new version was introduced in early 2016, as a 2017 model.
The Lexus LC is a grand tourer manufactured by Lexus, a luxury division of Toyota. Based on the 2012 LF-LC Concept, it was revealed at the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit. It replaced the SC, which was produced from 1991 to 2010. The LC is the first Lexus model to utilize the GA-L platform, which, along with other components, is shared with the full-size XF50 series LS sedan. According to Lexus, the name "LC" stands for "Luxury Coupe".
The Infiniti Q70 and Q70L is a line of mid-size luxury (executive) cars from Nissan luxury division Infiniti. Essentially an update to the Infiniti M series with minor cosmetic changes, the Q70 name was introduced to reflect Infiniti's updated "Q" nomenclature.

The Volkswagen C Coupe GTE is a concept automobile first shown in April 2015 at Auto Shanghai. The four-door saloon is a plug-in hybrid, powered by a 2.0L turbocharged gasoline engine coupled with an electric motor, and was intended to preview an upcoming car for the Chinese market, positioned between the Passat and the Phaeton models. An updated version of the C Coupe GTE has been produced by SAIC Volkswagen and sold exclusively in China as the Phideon starting in July 2016.
The Hyundai i-oniq was a concept sporty three-door hatchback designed and built by Hyundai Motor Corporation that featured a battery electric powertrain supplemented by a range extending gasoline engine, introduced in March 2012 at the Geneva Motor Show. Its name is a portmanteau of the words "ion" and "unique", which was later reused in 2016 when Hyundai began selling the Hyundai Ioniq. Hyundai subsequently launched the sub-brand Ioniq in 2020 to market electric vehicles built on the E-GMP architecture.
