Karim Antoine Habib (born 1970 [1] ) is a Canadian automotive designer. He is currently the executive vice president and head of Kia global design [2] for the Korean vehicle manufacturer Kia. He previously worked for BMW and Infiniti. [3] [4] [5] He is fluent in Arabic, English, French, German, and Italian.

Career

Born in Lebanon, Habib had to leave the country due to the ensueing civil war and moved to Canada in his teenage years, [6] and was educated at McGill University, as well as Transportation Design at the Art Center College of Design. [3]

In 1998, he was hired by BMW. He got his first break at BMW designing the interior of the E60 5 Series. [7] Later he designed the exterior of the BMW 7 Series F01. [3] [4] [5] He left to work for Mercedes-Benz in 2009 for a few years and came back to BMW in 2011 as exterior designer until January 2017. [3] [4] [5]

He started employment with Infiniti in July 2017 [8] and left the company in August 2019, being replaced by Taisuke Nakamura. [9] [10]

In September 2019, Habib joined Kia as Senior Vice President and Head of Kia Design Center. [11]

Jozef Kabaň is a Slovak automobile designer. He started his career as a designer at Volkswagen. In 2003 he moved to Audi as an exterior design assistant. In 2007 he advanced to the position of Chief of Exterior Design at Audi. He was exterior designer of the Volkswagen Lupo, SEAT Arosa, Bugatti Veyron and Škoda Octavia. He has been Chief of Exterior Design at Škoda Auto since 2008. In early 2017 he left Škoda for BMW to become its head of design replacing Karim Habib. In 2019 he changed position within BMW Group and headed design at its subsidiary Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. After half a year he decided to leave Rolls-Royce and BMW Group returning to VW in January 2020, this time for its main VW brand. In early 2023, Kabaň was dismissed from Volkswagen and replaced by Bentley designer Andreas Mindt after failing to impress VW's CEO. Bentley replaced Mindt with Tobias Sühlmann.

The Memphis International Auto Show is an annual auto show held every January in Memphis, Tennessee. The event takes place at the Memphis Cook Convention Center in Downtown Memphis and is affiliated with the Motor Trend regional auto show circuit. Despite the event's title name, not all vehicles or automakers are featured due to the limited convention space. Although the event is opened to visitors in the greater Memphis area, including residents from Arkansas and Mississippi, it is mandated at all auto shows in Tennessee that under state law, no sales may take place on the premises, and signs to that effect must be posted. There was no 2021 show, which was deferred to 2022.
