Inga Skaya (born Ingeborg Berdichevsky on January 7, 1986 in Moscow, Russia) is a Russian-Canadian model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Canada 2007 [1] on March 4, 2007. She was raised in Toronto, Ontario for most of her life.

Miss Universe Canada or "Beauties of Canada" is a national beauty pageant in Canada.

Inga attended William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate Institute in Toronto, as did the previous Miss Universe Canada, Alice Panikian. she trained in classical ballet.

William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate Institute is a semestered secondary school located in Toronto, Ontario. It was built in 1960 to accommodate the skyrocketing number of new students in what was then known as North York, and to ease overcrowding at Northview Heights Secondary School. Being located near another high school, Northview Heights Institute of Technology, the school is rumoured to have been called "Southview Heights Institute of Technology", because of the provocative initials. However, it was called Southview Heights Secondary School. Ultimately, William Lyon Mackenzie, the first mayor of Toronto and leader of the Upper Canada Rebellion in 1837, was selected.

Alice Panikian is a Bulgarian-Canadian journalist, TV Host, model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Universe Canada on March 21, 2006. She attended William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate Institute in Toronto, and graduated in 2003.

Before competing in Miss Universe Canada 2007, Inga participated in Miss Matryoshka 2006, a beauty pageant for women of Eastern European descent, part of Russian festival Matryoshka organized annually at the end of August in Toronto at park Canada's Wonderland, where she placed 3rd after Niki Yampolsky and Julia Safronova.

Canada's Wonderland is a 134-hectare (330-acre) theme park located in Vaughan, Ontario, a suburb approximately 40 kilometres (25 mi) north of Downtown Toronto. Opened in 1981 by the Taft Broadcasting Company and The Great-West Life Assurance Company as the first major theme park in Canada, it remains the country's largest. With seventeen roller coasters, Canada's Wonderland is ranked second in the world by number of roller coasters, after Six Flags Magic Mountain and tied with Cedar Point. The 134-hectare (330-acre) park includes a 8-hectare (20-acre) water park named Splash Works. The park holds Halloween Haunt, a Halloween-themed event, each fall, as well as special events throughout the season, including various food festivals, as well as "Celebration Canada", a month-long Canada Day festival, among others. Beginning in 2019, the park will launch WinterFest, a holiday-themed event that will extend the park's operating season to late December.

Inga represented her country in the Miss Universe 2007 pageant, but didn't make into the top 15. During the national costume portion of the contest, some controversy was caused by her appearing in an altered Toronto Maple Leafs jersey.

Miss Universe 2007, the 56th Miss Universe pageant, was held on 28 May 2007 at the National Auditorium in Mexico City, Mexico. Riyo Mori from Japan was crowned by Zuleyka Rivera of Puerto Rico as her successor at the end of the event. 77 contestants competed in this year.

Denise Garrido is a Canadian model and beauty pageant titleholder. She is one of the most decorated beauty queens in Canadian history. Garrido was the first Canadian to win two National Grand Slam Pageants, Miss Earth Canada 2008 and Miss World Canada 2010, and she appeared to be the first to win all three National Grand Slam Pageants when she was wrongly crowned as Miss Universe Canada 2013. However, it was discovered the following day that there had been a human error when entering the final scores. This error changed the final order of the Top 5. By the judges' score cards, Garrido had placed 3rd runner-up. Only 24 hours after being crowned, Garrido handed over her crown and sash to Riza Santos, the rightful Miss Universe Canada 2013.
