The International Music + Media Centre (IMZ) is an international non-profit organisation founded in 1961 by Wilfried Scheib under the aegis of UNESCO.
The IMZ is a global association for all those involved in any aspect of classical music, world music, jazz and contemporary music, ballet and contemporary dance in the audiovisual media.
Its more than 150 members include broadcasters; performing arts companies and venues; programme producers and distributors; record and DVD labels; cinema and new media specialists: all the participants in the creation and dissemination of music and dance in the media. Among their members are major international companies like the BBC, ZDF, 3sat, ARTE, NHK, ORF, the Metropolitan Opera New York, the Vienna State Opera, Salzburg Festival, C Major Entertainment GmbH, Deutsche Grammophon and WNET/THIRTEEN; the smallest are individual composers, choreographers, musicians or Music directors. The IMZ organizes events and initiatives for its members (Avant Première Music + Media Market Berlin, Avant Première Screenings, Golden Prague Premieres and Pitching Sessions at the Golden Prague Festival [2] and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) et al.) to promote music and dance in and through audiovisual media. It is also active as an initiator and programme curator of open-air music (and dance) film festivals around the world: Vienna Music Film Festival NY, Vienna Music Film Festival Yekaterinburg, [3] Vienna Music Film Festival Tokyo, [4] Rathausplatz Filmfestival Vienna, [5] Music Filmfestival Bucharest. The IMZ is based in Vienna, Austria and led by Max Beckham-Ortner, Secretary General since 2024. The Secretary General is appointed by the IMZ Board, which consists of 25 members elected for a three-year period.

The European Broadcasting Union is an alliance of public service media organisations whose countries are within the European Broadcasting Area or who are members of the Council of Europe. As of 2023, it is made up of 113 member organisations from 56 countries, and 31 associate members from a further 20 countries. It was established in 1950, and has its administrative headquarters in Geneva.
Österreichischer Rundfunk is an Austrian national public broadcaster. Funded from a combination of television licence fee revenue and limited on-air advertising, ORF is the dominant player in the Austrian broadcast media. Austria was the last country in continental Europe after Albania to allow nationwide private television broadcasting, although commercial TV channels from neighbouring Germany have been present in Austria on pay-TV and via terrestrial overspill since the 1980s.
Österreich 1 (Ö1) is an Austrian radio station: one of the four national channels operated by Austria's public broadcaster ORF. It focuses on classical music and opera, jazz, documentaries and features, news, radio plays and dramas, Kabarett, quiz shows, and discussions.
The Vienna International Film Festival, or Viennale, is a film festival taking place every October since 1960 in Vienna, Austria. The average number of visitors is about 75,000. Traditional cinema venues are Gartenbaukino, Urania, Metro-Kino, Filmmuseum and Stadtkino. At the end of the festival, the Vienna Film Prize is awarded.

Hitradio Ö3 is one of the nationwide radio stations of Austria's public broadcaster ORF. The format focuses on contemporary hit radio, specialising pop music and chart hits from the 1980s to the present. Ö3 has the biggest audience share by far of all Austrian radio stations.
Eurovision Young Musicians, often shortened to EYM, or Young Musicians, is a biennial classical music competition for European musicians that are aged between 12 and 21. It is organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and broadcast on television throughout Europe, with some countries holding national selections to choose their representatives for the contest.

The Eurovision Song Contest 2015 was the 60th edition of the Eurovision Song Contest. It took place in Vienna, Austria, following the country's victory at the 2014 contest with the song "Rise Like a Phoenix" by Conchita Wurst. Organised by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and host broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF), the contest was held at the Hall D of the Wiener Stadthalle and consisted of two semi-finals on 19 and 21 May, and a final on 23 May 2015. The three live shows were presented by Austrian television presenters Mirjam Weichselbraun, Alice Tumler and Arabella Kiesbauer, while the previous edition's winner Conchita Wurst acted as the green room host.

Austria participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 with the song "Shine" written by Andreas Grass, Nikola Paryla, Natália Kelly and Alexander Kahr. The song was performed by Natália Kelly. The Austrian broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) organised the national final Österreich rockt den Song Contest in order to select the Austrian entry for the 2013 contest in Malmö, Sweden. Five songs competed in a televised show where an international jury panel and a public vote selected "Shine" performed by Natália Kelly as the winner.
Austria participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song "Loin d'ici" written by Zoë Straub and Christof Straub. The song was performed by Zoë. The Austrian broadcaster Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) organised the national final Wer singt für Österreich? in order to select the Austrian entry for the 2016 contest in Stockholm, Sweden. Ten songs competed in a televised show where a jury panel and a public vote first selected the top two entries to proceed to a second round of voting. In the second round, a public vote exclusively selected "Loin d'ici" performed by Zoë as the winner. This was the first time that the Austrian song was performed entirely in the French language at the Eurovision Song Contest. The Austrian song was also the only entry performed in the final entirely in a language other than English.

The Unanswered Ives is an hour-long documentary about the life and musical career of the American composer Charles Ives. Written and directed by German film maker Anne-Kathrin Peitz, the documentary features Ives' early years in Danbury, CT, his musical relationship with his father, education at Yale and later career as insurance executive and composer. The documentary was commissioned by and produced for Arte and WDR television for broadcast and later distributed as part of a double DVD set. Notably, the production received the Czech Crystal – “Documentary Programmes Dedicated to Music, Dance and Theatre” at the Golden Prague International Television Festival.
